im gonna sound crazy saying this, but imo anthony joshua beats the best of british RIGHT NOW!

the scary thing is that he's only still a baby!
he sould turn pro imo as theres nothing else to do as a amateur now. strike the iron whilst its hot. go on rampage in the pro ranks like a young mike tyson or foreman!

I don't agree with right now but four years ago he was one of us just watching someone win a gold medal, that day he was inspired, now he's part of a Team GB that really has inspired a generation.

First Olympics and whether you felt he won fights or not he's shown he's one of the top Super Heavy's in the AM game and i hope he will get better.

Please though Anthony do not become another Bruno, Leave the weights alone son!.

I doubt he'll turn pro. The best thing Joshua can do right now is stay an Am and pursue Gold at 2016. He has A LOT to learn ahead of him. He rode his luck in this tournament. And while i'm very pleased for him he is far and away from the finished article and needs some serious coaching.

Come on man. This isn't the first time this has happend. Deontay Wilder had only been boxing 2 years and won a bronze. Joshua has had 40+ amateurs, many at world level. Fury only had 30 with 2 internationals and they're more or less the same age. Joshua's good but I wouldn't get carried away.

Wilders a bit different. That kid can bang. Although he's fought no one. Anyway Joshua isn't stupid. He's not turning pro.

If he turns pro he must go with Hearn otherwise he wont get the right opposition to help him develop, its shocking to think how slow Price has been brought along.

Possibly the longer pro distances will suit him.Think the way the final was going over a longer distance would have stopped Cammarrelle.Hes reached the pinnacle as an amateur. He is young enough to be brought along steadily as a pro.
Both Fury and Price have talent, but in 3years,and ,say,20 fights he could at least be at the same level and possibly higher.
I think history shows us hell turn over, probably next year, and be VERY good.

When has Hearn built any fighter, and on what evidence have you based this opinion that he's the promoter Joshua must go with?

Well when you sit down and run the rule over the other top UK promotions going to Matchroom would be more then understandable i mean the others may have pedigree but are they in the best of positions? are there fighters fighting on a regular basis or even getting what they deserve?. Hearn has got a lot to prove but he's going well thus far IMO.

Building a very tidy stable, and with his team of respected and well schooled boxing people i think Matchroom will do a good job of managing prospects. The answers will come over the next year or two as Frampton faces a big risk against Martinez and likes of Brook edge closer to a world title shot. I know Kell didn't come through Matchroom from the start but 5 bouts in a year is a step up from the standard he was facing under the experienced Frank W who had him fighting away from Sheffield against domestic level or even lower every 4-5 months.

All I'm saying is that there is no evidence to say Hearn will build fighters well. He got Kell better fights but, soon as he got near a lower-level world level journeyman type he was lucky to get through.

He gets fighters shots, but how many of them have won? Froch. Who was already a proven world-level fighter.

You could say FW sees fighters' limitations better than a lot of guys. He may be a devious **** bag, but he knows his stuff IMO.

There is just no way Joshua is gonna be an amateur for another 4 years. I don't really see the point. He's already achieved the ultimate goal in winning the gold. There's just too much risk and variables envolved in waiting 4 years trying to do what he's already done.

I don't see how he'll develop more in the ams either, if anything the flaws will just become too habitual and he'll get into that 'amateur mode' where it'll become even harder to succeed as a pro.

He's better off striking while the iron is hot, taking things super slow and learning the game as a professional. Only problem i see is people won't allow him to take things as slowly as he would need to.

Joshua looks like he can 'bang' a bit too. Did you see Wilder in the Ams? He looked even more of a novice then Joshua does and they have done a good job of bringing him up slowly with Mark Breland teaching him the fundamentals. Whatever we may say about Wilders opponents, his brain trust are giving him the best chance. Can you imagine if he'd stayed an amateur for four more years after Beijing?
