I am not going to say much about the fight until I have time to watch the replay. From where I was sitting it seemed like Miranda was doing fairly well the first 2 rounds. Then he started playing games in the 3rd when he got hit with that shot in the liver. Against a guy like Bute you dont play games, you gotta remained focused and keep to your gameplan 100% of the time. Needless to say I am disappointed and somewhat dumbfounded as to what Edison was thinking right before he walked into that left uppercut. I am heading home from Montreal soon and will watch the replay later tonight and have more to say then. Good luck to Bute and his future. His is a true champ and a gentleman. Andre Ward and he will be the fight to see imo.
Miranda was hurt early in the round and never recovered IMO. Great punch to end it and overall solid performance from Bute.
Classy post, Pantera! I don't think too many super middleweights even attempt to get up from the uppercut that Bute landed, to be honest, and I think your favorite fighter's loss probably has less to do with his own flaws and more to do with the fact that Bute is really starting to come into his own as a fighter.
Thank you man, hope you recover quickly and come back to exchange soon. Not my intention to brag but, we told you......:|
I've just seen a interview given by Bute for a Romanian television ,after the fight ... in which he was asked what are his plans for the future ... He says that Steiglitz refused a proposal made before the fight with Miranda(he doesn't feel ready for it probably), little chances for that fight it seems, so there remain 2 possibilities: Bernard Hopkins or one of the first 5 boxers at Ibf.. Personally I hope Stieglitz will change his mind ...
Good post Pantera. It's good to see a fan stick by their fighter. Hopefully he can still get the fight with Stieglitz because I think he can win that.
I actually thought Miranda was showing good control and footwork early on, although yes, i am aware they were feeling out rounds, however... with Miranda i can never feel comfortable watching the fight because he leaves himself too open too often, and his punches are often very slow to return to defence and is often much too open to counter. I was wishing upon a star that he would find the punch to seperate bute from his senses..... but when the opposite happened, i wasnt devistated, because i was expecting it, but it still hurt a lot... as a miranda fan. The look on Mirandas face afterwards was worse however :-( I dont know where Miranda goes from here.... he must search inside himself now to find out who he is. IMO, Miranda should have too much pride to be a punching bag to the elite. He has shown he is a good fighter and has risen to the top, yes he fell short of being champion, but in a world where 90% of the people to lace up a glove wont get to where he did, he did well. I dont want Miranda to get 'used' to losing, because hes not a loser and hes above that. So because of that, i support his retirement 100% if he chooses to.... who is he going to fight? 168 is deep, 160 he cant make with health, and 175? forget it.... and like i said, hes above being a punching bag. If he DOES decide to continue his career (which i expect him to, too many fighters fail to see life outside of boxing imo) i also will continue to support him 100%, and hope that he can continue to improve and maybe he can clean up some B- level opponents for awhile. None of this is ment as disrespect, he has been one of my top favorite fighters for a long, long time now.... and im coming from someone who cares about him and his future. He has given us good knockouts, and good fights... hes shown heart, toughness, and excitement. And regardless of how many armchair warriors like to hate, hes reached a high level within the boxing world. Pantera will always be one of my favorite fighters and i await to hear what his future plans are.
Agreed. On the downside we'll have to wait to see it. On the upside, we're gonna get a pile of other good fights while we wait.
