But I mean they all need to stay away from canelo and GGG. Their one of the best fighters in the sport. I don't think people can say eubanks a fraud because of that. They,d beat pretty much all of them. We,ve all got billy Joe in high regard. He,s stayed away from them as well...for very good reason. Says himself....golovkin needs to get old first. Doesn't mean billy joes a fraud. Hes just not as good as two of the very best fighters in the sport. Same as eubank. Fundamentally eubanks not great. But theres different ways to skin a cat. Groves was too big/strong/heavy for eubanks way to skin a cat to work. Billy Joe wasn't tho if we,re being honest....got out of their with a very tight win but it pretty much showed eubank did get him into a brawl. He was effective in that fight. Billy Joe just nicked it in the end. Eubank needs to get back down to middleweight if hes serious about becoming a top fighter. He,s a competitive fighter down there. He just needs to time when to take the right fights correctly...pretty much the same as everyone else in that division atm. I think he,ll stay at super. It,ll prolong his career in the long run. But needs to cherry pick up there...grow into the weight properly. But its no different to most fighters that move up without needing to. He,ll never be as effective up at super....its just an easier weight to compete at than middleweight atm. Billy joes down there...let's see him in with these guys. Or let's see him in with groves. Smith etc. And let' see if technical abilities the reason eubank lost last night...or the 8lb gaps to big to bridge without naturally outgrowing the weight. Let's see how brook gets on at 154...against the top fighters there. And he has naturally outgrown his division unlike eubank.
The basics would have helped him last night. Adopting a proper guard would have offered him some defensive cover to step into the mid-range and initiate exchanges, make George work and progressively pick his own offense up. As it was, he was too leery of George's power to get into an effective range with the ridiculous low lead he was carrying, and his policy of intermittent lunges from the outside-in brought him too close to Groves to get clean shots off. This was probably the most winnable authentically big fight they (the Eubank Jr. crew) will ever have. The lack of practical preparation beggars belief.
ok hold on, he can't be a fraud if he gave the best SMW 'by a mile' a good entertaining fight? I think he showed quite a bit of heart and chin in this fight, took some shots and kept swinging. Personally I don't think Groves is no. 1 SMW yet, Benavidez, Ramirez and Callum Smith will have to say something about it. Very good win for Groves though, he showed up in shape, had a good gameplan and stuck to it. I picked Eubank so I gotta give Groves props.
The only reason Eubank got into the Saunders fight was because Saunders gassed and was not in tip top shape, if he had been like he was against Lemieux he would have virtually shut Eubank out.
Saunders/GGG now i give Saunders a small chance but i'd still heavily favour Golovkin, but if Saunders is at his VERY best he outboxes both Jacobs and Canelo IMO, not that he'd ever get the decision against the latter.
I enjoyed last night so much I'd happily pay a few more quid to see GGG or the ginger bloke destroy Jnr. Mainly to see the look on Snr's creepy face and hear the rubbish excuses. Fights will never happen though.
it was a good win for groves, but not great. To bae fair he could have stopped eubie J late, he let him live to the end.
No frauds get to that level man.. He will learn from this. No shame losing to Groves whos a veteran and always game fighter.
I do agree to an extent. The problem is Groves is 29 years old and Eubank Jr 28 years old, the learning needs to happen quickly, it almost needs to be instant. Jr needs to be humble and ask a quality trainer to work with him and promise that trainer total control in the gym, move Sr to role of just an advisor, I don't expect him to sack his own father (although he needs sacking) politely thank Ronnie Davies for his time and basically sack him. Get away, get his head down, learn, get some regular quality sparring, pick 160-168 and start another assault on that weight. Oh and shut up, stop slaughtering world champions who have done more than you have, show some respect, stop posting carefully edited videos on social media, there is nothing wrong with promoting yourself and getting people talking but do it in the right way.
Its to late for jnr he never learnt the trade as he should of his dad sent him to America so he can bypass the amature system( maybe thinking he would get found out for his lack of skill) he then went pro and fought nobodies thinking his workrate and athleticism would pull him through but he gets find out at the highest level and will always get found out. The best eubank can hope for now is little improvement and that wont be nearly enough to make him good as he wants. He may win a legit title of a nobody but he sure as hell wont hold on to it.
The trainer part is a big issue.. As its been with many other fighters.. for some reason I think he wont change that..Which sucks for him
