How did the fight go? I meant to watch it but didn't get around to it.

Good win for the Rickster, the wee Ghanaian is very underrated.

TBH, I thought Ricky could have scored the stoppage in the 12th, but it still was good win.
Nice to see Nicky Cook there obviously gagging for a fight with Burns, could be the biggest mistake the londoner ever makes. Both Burns & Cook had a healthy respect for each other when they met after the fight, but I couldnt help but think both guys were relaxed cos they both think the other is a soft touch, much like Calzaghe & Jones if you know what I mean.

I felt a wee bit sorry for Rickys old trainer Rab Bannon to be honest tonight though, cos if the old timer was watching his protege tonight win a title it must have been an emotional night as hes never had a champion at his gym(Burns was his fighter, but left to go with Nelson a year or two ago)

Im over the moon for the Rickster though, & hopefully he will have the WBO world title wrapped around his waist before long:good

Was well impressed with Ricky once he got going.

I'm a big fan off his so was nice to see him get the title.

I think he needs to learn to focus on his opponent more though, things I hear make it sound as though his preperation wasn't very professional (weight making aside).

Hopefully he will get the fight with Cook!

i thought he looked fit enough towards the end of the fight, even although he had'nt faught for a while, and was'nt blowin too much, and to take the fight at short notice he must have been fit for it.

i switched off at around the 9th round, but it was nip and tuck until that point for me, i presume burns pulled away down the stretch?

akaba a solid test for any domestic prospect.

Yeah, his fitness etc is fine, I meant in terms of working on his opponent etc.

IMO he would need a decent training camp, focussed on Cooks style etc if he is going to do anything against him.

    Hopefully he will!

Obviously congrats to Burns on winning the title, good effort. Having said that I do think that he is pretty limited talent wise. He is far too upright, lacks mobility and when he does move its always in straight lines. Any half decent opponent at euro or world level will have him in trouble. If the Cook fight comes off I would take Cook mid-fight KO. (It was nice to see Cook at ringside last night congratulating the winner)
