He did try to make the fight. He was brave in there tonight and even though he was taking a lot of punishment he still stayed on his feet and tried to finish the fight.

He came to the USA, Wards hometown, fought through the fans, headbutts and what I thought was really poor corner advice and finished on his feet.

Time to regroup, adjust the inside fighting and prepare for Froch. I thought he was the best fighter in the tourney with ward second. He never looked right in there, he couldnt figure ward out and his timing was off.

He can still bounce back and take it to froch. It's not over for him!

Kessler is a fighter. If only he had the tools to make him more competitive in that fight... He certainly had the will to win.

Oh one other thing I want this on the record in an additional post. Kessler's cornermen tonight offered him almost no advice. There was no Plan B. he was not able to adjust. His cut man did a good job.

IMO Kessler needs a new trainer and better corner work. I dont find this loss all on the shoulders of Mikkel. His corner was horrible.

I fully expect Kessler to beat Froch. He MAY even have a shot against Abraham.

I'd be shocked if he ever gets by Ward, though. Ward is not unbeatable, though, so maybe he won't need to. But if he does, I expect Ward to be even more dominant in a rematch.

Ward is clearly the man to beat. Strangely enough, I think Dirrell matches up best against him, and ironically, Taylor next. (BUt Taylor is damaged goods).

Abraham will have a shot with Ward, too, but I think Ward matches up well with him.

showed a lot of heart staying in there when he said he couldnt see from one of the headbutts, almost sounded like what nate had (though i know nate had an internal problem with his eye) but yes he showed a lot of heart, i would have liked to see him go a bit more for broke though i know he did try.... but he kinda just kept doing the same things, and when being held... ****, push his ass off you and get to fighting. but still, its easy to be a arm chair quarterback, he showed a lot of heart.... he got worked. i hope he can bounce back.

I don't think so personally .... Froch is Taylor made for Kessler... it was obvious that it was Ward's speed and movement that ****ed Kessler, Froch is there to get hit.

I agree with this, Dirrell is the guy who is going to give ward his best fight. Ward is going to have to take a page out of the froch gameplan and really rough Dirrell up.

A confident, calm Dirrell is trouble for anyone.

Not in a million years. Kessler's stock has taken a hit, but it's not that low. Froch gets stopped whenever Kessler wants.

In fact, it could be pretty violent if Kessler comes out angered and determined.

I can't believe that Kessler was still standing after Wards' huge billy goat head butt! That was extremely hard, he did this on purpose. Ward refuses to fight anywhere except him home town. Wonder why? The ref allowed the headbutts, low blows and holding, but Ward was still much better than Dirrell will ever be, at least he did fight, although after cutting Kessler over and over again with headbutts, and they were planned. Kessler should have planned for everything. Kessler was stupid for fighting where he did. He deserved to lose. He should have expected the cheating.

No comments on this? By rd3 I was listening to the corner advice intently and kept telling my wife out loud that his corner was giving him either no or **** advice.

Kessler needed a Lou Duva in there tonight. I think Kessler's trainers and his corner hold him back as a professional.

    :good

But I still my man Kessler should learn from this thought He'd done so after the Calzaghe fight but clearly he has a problem with Slicksters.

Congratulations Ward beating my man Kessler. :bbb
