I don't think Vic has looked this good against an opponent like Perez in a while! Really put it on him from Rd 1 and deserved the victory. Not that I wish Agbeko anything other then full health but apparently if he can't continue boxing in a reasonable amount of time the winner of Darchinyan Perez was to fight Mares in Agbeko's spot. Very exciting if Vic could now get that rematch.

    Once again congrats to Darchinyan.

    Well done Vic!

I'll post this article here as well:

Darchinyan by round 5 technical unanimous decision

by Mark Vester - Boxing Scene dot com - minutes ago.

Nokia Theater, Los Angeles, California - In an IBO bantamweight championship clash, Vic Darchinyan (36-3-1, 27KOs) won a five round technical unanimous decision over Yonnhy Perez (20-2-1, 14KOs) in a fight filled with fireworks. The bout ended early due to an accidental clash of heads. All three judges had it 50-44 for Darchinyan.

Darchinyan hurt Perez with a left hand and started landing some good punches in the first. Perez started coming back with some good punches of his own. Later in thr ound darchinyan was landing some very big punches. Perez took them and kept coming. In the second, Darchinyan dropped Perez with an uppercut. For most of the round Darchinyan punished Perez with left and right hands.

Perez started to rally in the third round. Darchinyan stood in front and traded punches with Perez. In the final minute Darchinyan blasted away with some very hard left hands. In th fourth, Darchinyan looked to be getting tired but he was still landing some very bog punches. the left hand was hitting Perez flush and hurting him.

In the fifth round there was a clash of heads that opened up a very bad cut above the left eye of Perez. The doctor took one look and stopped the fight. The cut was flowing heavy.

DaVarryl "Touch of Sleep" Williamson (27-6, 22 KOs) displayed why he is stll one of the biggest punchers in the heavyweight division with a seventh round knockout of Michael Marrone (19-3, 14 KOs). Williamson's hard right hand put Marrone down in the third and the seventh before the fight was stopped. Marrone, once a rising contender, suffers his third loss in his last four bouts. Williamson returns for the first time since his four round TKO loss to Ray Austin in October of 2009.

Omar Figueroa (11-0-1, 9 KOs) battered John Figueroa (7-10-3, 3 KOs) in the second round of a one sided junior welterweight bout.

Flyweight prospect Miguel Diaz (5-0, 3 KOs) won a four round unanimous decision over Alejandro Solorio (4-4, 3 KOs). Solorio went down in the third. All three judges had it 39-36.

Fantastic fight,Vic just seamed to land every big left that he threw.
You have to give credit to Perez that guy has a chin i couldn't believe he was still standing after some of those massive shots landed.
Vic really looked sharp tonight and again proved why he's our best boxer however i think he needs to think a bit more about what he says in the after fight interviews because he can come across as a bit disrespectful and arrogant.
I would love to see him get the rematch with Mares that would be a ripper:bbb

Vic was breaking him down but it seems his opponents at 118 have a better chin or not as affected as the 115ers by his punches.

I love VIC though, he looked great tonight with a blend of boxing and what he promised to do..

Chins mean nothing, it's when Vic's body work is effective that he thrives, on his day he's one of the most savage body punches out there.
