very premature to be talking like this . All you can do right now is credit both fighters for such an amazing fight
He’s a young lad so you’d hope he can come back from it but as you say, surely his family don’t want to go through that again? Even himself that will always be there mentally for him.
I've no doubt he'll be back. A tough, young, hungry young man who performed tremendously on the night.
It will take a long time for Mick to process this and to get his guns back. Macklin did after Jamie Moore but psyches are individual. Hope Mick is OK and deep respect to Wood's courage and fighting instincts.
I agree with the OP. Given some of the wars Jamie was in, i don't think the family are going to happily support Mick taking up the mantle. That being said, this is a job and these guys need to earn.
I'd say he's finished myself. If memory serves me right, when he won the gold at the world amateur championships he hung on for dear life in the last round to after getting dropped. I'm trying to think of a fighter that's come back from such a heavy knockout and healthy scare before. And I can't think of one
Lucky he did not break his neck in that fall last night. Never rated him very high before last night and expected him to be exposed when he stepped up but never thought Wood would be good enough for the job. Great fight and Conlan also looked better last night than I thought he was pre fight.
