30 years old at 126lbs is old I’m afraid, however apart from last night he hasn’t taken much punishment.
Let's treat the KO as a normal KO without the fall because that's just a freak moment that worried people as there was little news for a while. It was a heavy lights out KO but no serious injury that we know of. Would anyone say it was career over if that happened in middles of the ring? A loss yes. A hard KO yes but instant career over?
I wouldn't say he took a battering to the head either through the fight, it was the bodyshots that finally took their toll on him and made him exhausted.
A full rebuild at his age and weight division might be a long road. Career not over but looking more and more like an elite amateur who never realised his full potential as a pro. A poor man’s Luke Campbell
I’m not one for commenting on a boxer’s future in the immediate aftermath of a fight but it’s worth pointing out that these MTK fighters and particularly the Irish ones seem to be well looked after by the Kinahan money laundering operation in boxing when their fighting days are over. There’s probably a “job” for life for Conlan in some sort of capacity which will give him a decent income as long as MTK is allowed to operate and that could come into the thinking of any decision on his future.
He was shattered from all the work he'd put in in the earlier rounds but I wouldn't say he's done, plenty of fighters at this age and stage in their careers have come back from similar to become contenders, World Champions and earned millions doing it.
Nah you haven't a clue. Pacquaio, Lennox Lewis, David Haye. All these guys got sparked with heavy heavy shots and still recovered to win world title some time later.
If Warrington gets past Kiko, which I think he will, it’s more than likely a stadium fight in Nottingham or Leeds. I fancy Warrington to beat Woods in a good fight. Great match up.
Definitely capable of winning a rematch, I do question his ability to preserve energy in the later rounds like most Booth trained fighters.
