Hearn will follow the same strategy he followed with Joshua, mention big names and fight zero threats until a final big fight appears against another washed up opponent. Joshua v Whyte 2 is that fight. Will be surprised to see Conlan v Warrington before late 2025.
Conlan is like watching Amir Khan these days, you're expecting him to start dancing after any half decent punch. His chin is an absolute comedy sketch show. He cannot take a shot. He should have to retire for his own safety. Warrington could seriously hurt him
The Warrington stoppage was a joke and he was winning the fight. So it isn't fair to call it a genuine defeat.
I think Conlan v Warrington would be a great fight to make, couldnt see it being anything other than entertaining. It'd make 'em both a bit of money, and it'd definitely end up as a war.
Conlon needs to call it quits. Every punch landed had him seriously hurt Needs to retire. Never had the best chin but I don't remember him reacting to punches like that from wood, marriaga , baluta to name a few. Warrington would destroy him fairly quickly.
He should of been given the minute imo. We’ll never know if it would of made a difference. Can’t take anything away from Wood though, he’s a hard man and a deserving champion. Rematch required imo.
In the nicest possible way, are you under 30 by any chance? We’re not massive fans of Leeds in these parts, but they were right up there with the best firms for a good 20 years. Especially in the 80s and early 90s. No idea these days, but was with a few doing some heavy lifting in Marseilles at the euros in 2016. Good group of Leeds, Millwall and Wolves getting stuck in.
I really hope Jamie or Micks Missus can convince him to call it quits. Warrington or any other fighter of substance would hurt him badly
I don't know, he was absolutely all over the show, looked like a drunk kid at a house party staggering back to his corner. If it had carried on he'd have been flattened in the next round.
I thought the Warrington stoppage was premature on first viewing but if you turn your back to the ref after a heavy knockdown like that you can't really complain too much imo.
Anyone at 130 with reasonable skill and power probably KO's Conlan; if anything Conlan should count himself fortunate for losing to GIll, had he won and weasled a title shot against Cordina, Navarette etc then he most likely would have left the ring on a stretcher.
Conlan is one of the most gifted boxers I have ever seen. He has a glass chin and has no power which negates his legendary technical ability. It's more important to have some punch resistance and power than it is to have technical ability. The whole point of the sport is to hurt and mitigate against being hurt. Conlan missed the boat on that one. Unrivalled technical ability, though. He will be looked back on in a hundred years time for that, so at least that's something.
