Nope! Going to leave it at that and let you wonder. Not the most pleasant life episode.

The sanctioning bodies are in a constant race to lose credibility as fast as possible.

The problem is all these governing bodies & boards of control are so open to manipulation now there’s so much money involved that they really have very little power if any at all, they probably mean well and intend to uphold the laws and principles but when it comes crunch time they just don’t seem to have what it takes!
Like any other large organisation in life it’s just one big boys club and very naive to think otherwise…

Going back to the smith/matias situation the spin I heard from the matchroom side is that smith has waited for a title shot, he’s gone/going through a camp and he needs to fight to get paid-these are the reasons he’s given for proceeding with the fight-I totally get that, I can see it from his point of view totally but surely there’s a better way - would it not be better if the failed fighters promotion had to stand the costs and a purse for guy on the losing end of a bad test ie the opponent? That is surely a huge incentive to stay clean, as this situation stands there’s barely any deterrent at all

Point in case why boxing is still the Wild West.

The guy who put a sustained beating on Galal Yafai, the kind that could’ve ended a career, pops after the fight…then boxes again in Mexico a couple of months later.

How are fighters meant to stay clean when this is how the odds are stacked?

Look at Dalton Smith – a career built for a moment in time, completely sabotaged by forces outside the fighter’s control.

This sport still protects outcomes over people.

You can only feel sorry for Dalton Smith but that's the world of professional boxing ! It's a rotten industry that is characterized by a lot of corruption.

Ultimately boxing is commercial entertainment. If you can persuade the local council you've got enough first aid on hand, you can put a boxing show on (as "white collar", BKB, Misfits etc, prove beyond doubt). The BBBoC is just part of the overall cartel of sanctioning, masquerading as an official licensing body.

The promoters might have the occasional grudge with the Board but they ultimately have no choice to keep using it or see their "world title" routes blocked quickly. Nigel Benn was one of the more famous people to rip up the BBBoC licence over its recognition of the WBO but that just proved the point that the bodies are all in it together eventually; he soon came back.

Yup, fingers crossed Dalton somehow salvages a proper world title shot without more nonsense derailing it. Fighters only get so many prime camps, and wasted ones really hurt. Fury gets plenty of stick, a lot of it deserved, but people forget how David Haye messed him around for over a year back in 2013. That was two full camps down the drain right when he was on the brink of a breakthrough.

And yes, boxing is as corrupt as it gets. A few years back we literally had someone publicly sanctioned by US authorities as heading an organised crime cartel, fronting and financing the biggest management agency in the sport, while being lauded by insiders left and right. That alone tells you how broken the system is and it is just the tip of the iceberg.

At the other end, you have ex car salesman types with zero accreditation or real background suddenly managing elite pros. It is pure opportunist charlatanism, made possible because the barriers to entry are nonexistent and the regulators barely blink.

Wild how the sport has not changed in that respect since its inception.

I’d still back Duke if it ever got real. Conor’s already peaked and just doesn’t have the self-awareness to see it. Strip away the noise, hype and protection, and there isn’t much underneath it but ego. Once that bubble bursts the fall is going to be ugly unless Fast Car keeps holding his hand.

His ego is completely out of control, and it’s starting to look very familiar, almost a parody of his old man pre-Watson and Eubank humbling. He’s getting uncomfortably close to Prince Patel versus Barry Jones territory.

I’m sure Benn would react in totally the same fashion had it been a younger active HW who made the comments.

I've sat backstage (after shows) and seen judges come to the organizing promoter to pick up an envelope :)

Bellew on Froch’s podcast put Conor Benn title shot at his number 1 fight he wants to see in 2026.

They then went on to discuss what a good scalp Ryan Garcia would be for Benn.

Only got myself to blame for listening but it’s so much more annoying from people who clearly know they’re talking **** and say it with a straight face
