Benn saying that Hearn didn’t lend him any money during that period is interesting and most likely yet another lie. No doubt Hearn will reply with a response soon which should be entertaining.
It is a very stupid thing to lie about as it can be easily proven. On the other hand Benn is a very stupid man, so who knows.
There's probably an easy way to get around this and no doubt Benn's had good advice. If he was to say "he had an advance against a contracted payout" - because the Eubank fight was a 2-fight deal merely postponed and not cancelled, then technically it's not a loan. He knows Hearn can't come out and say he didn't believe Benn otherwise it would have been cancelled on those grounds and money couldn't be paid. All very neat in hindsight.
Now it makes sense as to why Hearn went to war for Benn: the Hearn's had advanced him half a million for the first fight.
Eddie going on a bit of a rant about Conor's recent Overlap interview. He gives a timeline of the money he lent him, it's quite an entertaining interview to be fair, it just reinforces this opinion of Conor as a lying little weasel 21:50 in This content is protected
Let's face it, Benn is where he is because of his dad, Eddie is where he is because of his dad, it's two Nepo babies fighting over this ridiculous reality that they've carved out for themselves.
I understand this, but I don’t at the same time. Isn’t every human on earth where they are because of their parents? Some parents managed to have got their kids in a better position than others?
Compare the skill and grit of Maxi Hughes and Conor Benn, then look at the career opportunities and earnings that each have had, then compare how they condone themselves..... imagine what Maxi Hughes could have achieved and earned if he'd had a fraction of the leg up that Benn has had.
I get the thought of this could send someone’s imagination wild. But I still don’t understand your point. Reality is, their parents helped the next generation of their family, or failed trying. Should they reject it and start from scratch in a 3rd world country begging to get by? is it then to imagine if nobody got the leg up their parents gave them? Imagine what King Charles would be without his parents? should everyone start life as an abandoned child in a 3rd world country? their parents did well and it’s helped the kids, Eddie has tried his best with what he inherited and works hard, what’s the issue with him?
It's just understanding nepotism man, it really is that, that and accepting that it creates unfair playing fields across all manner of things. Has Conor Benn earned his position in boxing? Has he earned those pay packets? Has he even made a fraction of the achievements he could have done given what he's been afforded in life? Maxi Hughes was on a great unbeaten run and doing it alongside working full time in construction. Conor Benn was on the gear, knocking out stiffs and partially quoting Marvin Hagler as if he'd had some kind of similar journey through boxing to get to where Hagler had got to make that quote. Look what this nepotism has done to Conor Benn, an entitled cheating little rat of a manchild. That's the point.
Totally get that which is why said I understand but don’t. It’s 100% true that we are not all dealt the same hand when we are born, however that’s reality and will never change and there’s nothing wrong with it. Just like Conor Benn has had a privileged position compared to to maxi Hughes, I’m sure maxi has had a privileged position compared to many others. it’s the benefit of generational progression. I don’t think it’s as much nepotism (which happens in many walks of like) rather than just inheritance from parents/progression etc. Do you think Elon musk or Donald trumps kids will have the same opportunities as everyone else or better?
It’s completely missing the point of professional boxing. It’s not a sport and if you can accept that bit, the rest gets easier to swallow. Benn has absolutely no need his position because promoters are able to capitalise on his name. If this was the amateurs he’d be nowhere but that’s now how it works. You don’t have to like it (and personally I don’t either) but Maxi Hughes doesn’t draw viewers however good he is and that’s life.
