No doubts in this, he has just gone up 2 divisions, and schooled a 160 fighter, who really is a 168 fighter, so has gone up 3 divisions really. Has a granite chin shown in the 2 Eubank fights. Has devastating power @147 as shown from 2020 - 2022 before he went up above his weight. Great footwork, great feints, game as fu*k. He can beat all the guys at 147 and take all 4 belts, Crocker and Barrios are easy work, that's 2 belts straight away. Then he can go and get belts at 154 & 160 later on, we're witnessing one of the UK"s best.
He's always banging on about wanting Barrios. The UK's next best welterweight ever would be targeting the top competition not the very obvious weak link
Might be quite nice to see him actually fight at WW. When was the last time? Van Heerden was three and a half years ago. Dobson and Orozco were at SWW unless I'm mistaken. Might struggle to get down to that weight after putting on so much muscle.
erm no. I've not watched the fight just some commentary. For whatever reason Eubank was a shell of himself and Benn had free reign to do what he wanted. Well done Connor that's all he can do but - BUT it doesn't answer the still loads of questions he has around. Eubank is the first real good fighter Benn has beaten: Prior to the fight Saturday his power had been nowhere to be seen, he was outboxed for large periods by Eubank in the first fight. Eubank isn't exactly a technical wiz in the ring. How well will he react dropping down in weight, doesn't usually end well for guys doing this. Benn's age maybe works for him here. He might nick a belt Crocker is there for the taking by anyone half decent, but I don't see him having a better career than someone like Amir Khan never mind the best welter weights we've ever produced.
I think Phil needs an intervention at this point. This is getting close to Charlie Sheen in his peak “winning” phase, smashing 7g rocks and finishing them like it’s normal. He needs saving from himself before he rewrites the entire history of British boxing. Guaranteed he’s on the **** Fowler is serving up.
Fair point, Crocker has two wins over an opponent who, in the eyes of the majority, beat him twice. A mad statistic.
I am a Crocker fan and personally had him winning both times but it was clear that he didn't win by outboxing Donovan, rather was saved by a DQ the first time and won the second fight mostly because (in my opinion) he landed two good shots and nicked a couple of rounds that could have been given either way...was soundly beaten in the other 8 or so rounds. So either way it doesn't bode well for believing he's going to be a massive threat in the division Wouldn't fancy his chances at all against Benn, so for exactly that reason, I was very surprised his name wasn't mentioned at all after the fight on Saturday. But perhaps....it's because they're both Eddie's fighters and he wants them both as separate cash cows for as long as he can have them. Crocker sells out the national stadium (in Northern Ireland) every fight he has on this run...until it ends. Benn can go and try win other titles and Eddie can milk them both until he wants Benn to unify with Crocker and sell out a big stadium again
I assumed Eddie would throw Crocker to Benn first chance he gets to ensure a strap for Egg, but cashing in on Crocker headlining in NI for a while makes sense too.
I get the feeling the Benn/matchroom boys egos are above the Crocker fight, straight to America next for Benn As another poster further up said I really think it’ll be a struggle for Benn to go back to 147 now but they don’t want to be anywhere near 154 in terms of belts so I do think they will do their best to make it and capitalise on the weaker champions down there, no disrespect to those champs but you can be sure it’ll be the overhyped but easiest route from here on in
