Khabib will have to just bullrush him. If he doesn't, McGregor will just constantly throw punches and kicks at range to keep him back like Johnson was doing for the first part of the first round. If Khabib doesn't have a chin, McGregor is going to do him just like he's been doing everyone else.
It's a dangerous fight for McGregor and I don't think they'll risk it. He could certainly light Khabib up and stop him.. But if Khabib gets him down and he doesn't get back up immediately it won't be pretty. I think they'll probably force Ferguson and Khabib to fight while McGregor takes some time off and they decide what they want to do with him. He's fought 3x this year and has a kid on the way. We probably won't see him again until late Spring-early Summer at the very least.
Khabib is a phenom on the ground. McGregor's best chance is to knock him out early and keep his distance. If the fight goes to the ground, Khabib will wear conor out and make him tap. Khabib on the ground is like Conor standing up. He has this unique combination of ground skills that allows him to chain wrestling moves together in such a seamless way. He's sticks on people like velcro and it's hard to peel him off.

You don't get a record of 24-0 in MMA without having a good chin. I think they will do a 3rd Diaz fight anyway, Ferguson vs Khabib for a #1 contender fight that the winner will just get shelved until a less dangerous story line with bigger $ develops.

It is a change of direction for sure for the UFC. The old model under the Fertitas was to never let anyone get bigger than the UFC, now the guy is asking for a piece of the company in the post-fight interview.
