The New York State Athletic Commission has ruled the February bout between Conor Coyle and Vito Mielnicki Jr. a no-contest and imposed a suspension on Coyle for testing positive to an as yet unnamed substance. The initial suspension handed down was 12 months but it seems, by negotiation, Coyle's team have been able to get it reduced to 9 months. Coyle argued strongly in defence of his reputation, insisting he has been the victim of a faulty testing system rather than any wrong doing on his part.
With the voluntary gaps fighters have between fights these days, a 9 month suspension is an absolute f....ing joke.
