In boxing we transfer all the energy into a punch not just enough to be effective. In TMA the latter is true. Bruce, Conor, they throw these strikes that I do not doubt have generated considerable energy, I mean I did just watch McConor KO people after all, but they are inefficient with that energy.

Bit of basics here, everyone knows the punch starts at the foot, everyone of course knows it ends on the knuckle, MMA and TMA do argue with boxing as to how exactly the foot gets connected to the knuckle. For use we use something called the powerline, or kinematic chains. Essentially the theory is to line up your bones in a fashion that transfers energy as cleanly as possible, like a Newton's Cradle. TMA/MMA doesn't always see this as necessary. They throw punches that may be effective but because they lack clean linkage in their chain those punches do not have as much energy as the fighter produced. In boxing we think of that as a stamina drain, it's very bad in our sport. The easiest way to spot this is at the elbows. Because of the direction of force you've to turn the powerline quite a bit throwing a hook or some such similar. With TMA/MMA you're going to see a whole lotta variance in elbow degree that boxing just doesn't support. You will get walked down if your powerline is off. There is no reason to respect your offense if you powerline is off. Just like Mister McGregor said initially; you can't even punch through 10 oncers if your powerline is off. You'll end up just bouncing gloves on slapping punches.

That said, my comment is mostly smart assery centered around the difference in philosophy between sports not a reflection of how well Conor does what McConor means to do. I'm sure he's true to theory, he's obviously talented. Either way I was only half serious. It was meant to be a friendly jab. Kinda my sport says yer sport is a sissy sort of thing. In the Money fight I was more disappointed in the corner than the kid. McConor could be a damn fine boxer if he goes and see Hunter or some such. That Irish crew he has clearly does not know their ass.

I know his name isn't McConor I just thought that was funny during the Money fight. Also, I quite liked the video.
