I’ve done a quick analysis of the top 10 Heavyweights according to the following sources: The Ring Transnational Boxing Ratings Board Boxrec Sport-Ratings ESPN Bad Left Hook HeavyweightBoxing.com The consensus top 10 are as follows Format: Name / # of top 10 rankings / Average rank For the average ranks, I have assumed a fighter is ranked at #15 if he is not listed in the top 10. 1) Usyk / 7 / 1.29 2) Fury / 7 / 2.00 3) Joshua / 7 / 3.14 4) Parker / 7 / 3.71 5) Hrgovic / 6 / 7.00 6) Zhang / 6 / 7.14 7) Sanchez / 5 / 9.43 8) Anderson / 4 / 10.86 9) Wilder / 4 / 11.14 10) Kabayel / 4 / 11.57 Just missed out: 11) Dubois / 3 / 12.00 12) Joyce / 3 / 12.29
I think this is fairly similar to my list even the order of the top, except I still have Joyce and Dubois at the low end of the top 10 and not Kabayel and Anderson.
Amazing illustration of just how thin the division is... Resumes drop off a cliff from 5-10, to the extent that Wilder's doesn't even look that bad in that company - which says a lot given he's at the end of a career marked predominantly by ducking.
Yes, there are certainly a number of “top” heavyweights who are yet to really prove themselves. Hopefully the recent cards can continue and we get some more good matchups this year.
7. Sanchez: Everytime a Cuban boxer shows up on the scene a large part of the Boxing fans gets a little wet stripe in their panties. 7. Is too high. 8. Anderson. Hasn’t done enough compared to some others to be at 8. 9. Wilder. Based on his last outing I can’t put him at 9 anymore H2H. If you factor in his past accomplishments ok maybe.
Anderson is ranked 7th by TBRB, 8th by the Ring, 8th by ESPN and 8th by Bad Left Hook. He is unranked by Boxrec, Sport-Ratings, and HeavyweightBoxing.com
Nice one! I've been doing these for a while now on my blog but only with The Ring, TBRB, Bad Left Hook and ESPN. Thanks for sharing more outlets.
It's on Facebook, but it's in Polish, so I don't know if that would be interesting to you anyway, here's the link: https://facebook.com/profile.php?id=100063988723662&_rdr
Yeah what have Kabayel and Anderson done? Joyce at least has Parker. Dubois I can take or leave. Not fussed. I would put Bakole over him.
Dubois I have mainly because despite the losses, he's at least tested himself against the higher levels (Usyk and Joyce), I think that also counts for something. Bakole, perhaps it's a bias but from what I've seen, I just don't see it yet.
If these rankings mean anything, Parker should be above Joshua now since he beat Wilder and Zhang. Joshua has beaten nobody as dangerous as those two for a long time. The truth is Joshua COULD beat both but he didn't have the courage to take the fights. Somehow the fact he could beat them is enough for people, which is absurd.
1 and 2 is Fury and Usyk no matter which order After May 18 that will settle the true number 1 Who cares about the rest? i would put parker as 3 because he has been taking the toughest challenges
Well, Kabayel has wins over Chisora and Makhmudov, and is undefeated. I can understand why he would get ranked. Anderson? He seems to get ranked based on the eye test (and being an undefeated American prospect)
