If I can offer some constructive criticism. I might be careful about including: (1) Heavyweightboxing.com and (2) BadLeftHook All the rankings you use provide an explanation of how they are formed. I can't seem to find any explanation for (1) Heavyweightboxing.com so they might already be pooling the rankings of the other sources.* (2) Is less of an issue as you can see where the rankings come from, but they seem to be the personal rankings of Scott Christ, which is fine, but it gives a lot of weight to one person's voice by including him equally with the others. * I suspect they rank Hunter at #11 because Boxrec rank Hunter #9
Updated Consensus Ranking. Note: I have reintroduced Sport-ratings and removed Bad Left Hook and Heavyweight-Boxing following the above advice. Format: Name / # of top 10 rankings / Average rank For the average ranks, I have assumed a fighter is ranked at #15 if he is not listed in the top 10. 1) Usyk / 6 / 1.00 2) Fury / 6 / 2.17 3) Dubois / 6 / 3.00 (up from 7) 4) Parker / 6 / 4.33 5) Kabayel / 6 / 6.33 (up from 6) 6) Bakole / 6 / 6.67 (up from 8) 7) Zhang / 6 / 6.83 (down from 5) 8) Joshua / 5 / 7.83 (down from 3) 9) Hrgovic / 4 / 11.00 10) Ajagba / 2 / 12.67 (new entry) just missed out: Ruiz / 2 / 13.00 Chisora / 2 / 13.33
Think it’s just the top rated fighter is recognised as champion, but if they are inactive for a year then #2 is recognised as Interim champion.
Jared Anderson 17th Hrgovic 25th Wallin 64th Wilder 78th Damm these guys do not play around punishing fighters for losing.
Interesting stuff. I think they'd be better weighting in favour of more recent results, or reducing to a three year period. Not convinced about the lineal part, or the rated fighters either. Points could be awarded based on record of opponent. Might need to do one myself.
Only ESPN have him in the top 10, and they have him at #9. That puts him behind Ruiz and Chisora (who are in the top 10 according to 2 different sources) and Hunter (who is #8 with Boxrec). He is level with Huni (#9 per Sport-Ratings).
