I would like you to shut your eyes and imagine a world where striking had been taken out of MMA.

Terrible you might think, but just think of the benefits. And one of them is, fighters would be able to fight much much more often.

If tournaments were mainly wrestling and jujitsu fighters could fight many matches on one day. Elimination tournaments which really do show who is best could become commonplace.

It would become a sport that would become instantly socially acceptable, and something that kids could do.

MMA fights show, that wrestling and jujitsu can be hugely entertaining to watch in its own right. Of course without striking there would be a big loss, but the benefits could be absolutely huge.

Is this a troll? No-gi sub grappling tournaments exist and as far as I know NO ONE watches them.

if it was men in underwear wrestling and getting sweaty all the time then we might as well watch gay porn.

I wonder if they could take away ground strikes though, how would that be?

Fighters could fight much more often as it is. They don't due to the revenue template.

Think back to the early days of boxing.

Also nobody would be interested in grappling only matches.

i liked the slap policy in pancrase enabling fighters to escape subs with rope grab
i think it gave them better hand grabing without the mma gloves

I agree. And while we're at it, how much better would baseball be if the baseball was bigger. And it had hot girls pitching. And they threw underhand? If only...

Or the 100m hurdles. How awesome would it be if they removed the hurdles. All they do is slow the race down. They could call it the 100m no-hurdles.
