Considering Dawson vs Calzaghe logically

Touching though your concern is, I'm sure British boxing will be fine. There's a number of fighters behind the current superstars who could make a breakthrough, and the amateur scene is in very good fettle (eight British boxers qualifying for the Beijing olympics compared to one for Athens).

Again, 3 of 36 year old Joe's last 5 fights: Lacy (prime), Kessler (prime), Hopkins (just destroyed Pavlik).

Chad Dawson can't carry Joe's jock, and never will be able to. Anyone that hitches their wagons to Chad Dawson's cart is going to be about as embarrassed as Cotto jockriders were after Margarito. It won't take long, although ShowTime and Dawson's handlers will try to prolong the inevitable and milk the cash cow for as long as they are able to. See Taylor and HBO pre-Pavlik.

I understand completely the Dawson hype, who's falling for it and what it's all about. It's similar to the Haye nonsense. But I'm warning those who are being conned: Dawson is a fraud, you bandwagon with him at your own peril, and at the peril of your credibility.

Dawson is a carefully-constructed fraud. I understand exactly what has gone with his career, and the Seniors Tour he and his handlers are engaging in. You're being conned, and I'm disappointed you are happily consuming the hype. You're better than this.

 

Well...if you REALLY want to take a more analytical look at this who has Joe beat to even ask the question if Dawson is owed or deserves this fight shoul he beat Jones?

Joe beat Hopkins...who else....An old Eubanks, an over hyped one demensional Lacy, Bika, Manfreado, RIED??? Dawson with TWO recent wins...one very impressive and one very close against two of the VERY Best LHW's in the world is pretty impressive to say the least.

I think if Joe is up to it...meaning he is motivated to fight a real young gun in Dawson he should take it....I can't really say who I think would win b/c they both have a lot of skills and talent....but I'd lean towards Joe only b/c he has the experience on his side...but I wouldn't be surprised if Dawson was able to win by UD or by KO...vise versa.

how can you say what sarah yates is saying is nut hugging.? there are some pretty good points. why should calzaghe fight dawson.? if he did and beat him which he would. who the hell else are you going to throw at him. that would leave you ****ed. you would have nothing to moan about.

That first line beggars belief. It really does. Dawson gets no respect from you for beating Adamek, Hardingg, Johnson and Tarver and therefore hasen't earned his shot at JC, who has had all of 1 fight at 175. Yet, Diaconu, has earned his shot at Dawson, by beating whom? Please remind me.

 

again do you not follow boxing? If you watch showtime you will know the disscussions about who is number 1 either Chad or Joe and they always bring up the issue that Chad is considered as number 1.

Dawson is a good fighter but he's not great just yet. Give him a few years to work on his conditioning and defense. I don't think he's ready for Calzaghe yet. Calzaghe has too many advantages over him: workrate, stamina, defense, chin, and most of all experience and craftiness. Speed and power (or lack thereof) would be a push. I for one thought that Johnson deserved a close decsion in their fight. I saw all the effective work being done by Glen and flurries that Dawson was throwing (while running) being mostly blocked. Thats just my opinon.

I actually think Dawson matches up better against Calzaghe than he does against Kessler. I think Kessler would be a nightmare for him unless he can solve his stamina and defensive issues. Kessler has good speed, pretty good stamina, and throws his punches straight and with power. He's bound to catch Dawson and personally from what I've seen, I don't think Dawson could handle.

 

Who in the **** has the Shark beaten to deserve such praise? He's a paper champ at best. Adamek alone is a better win than anyone on Diaconu's resume.:deal Not to mention Johnson, Tarver or Adamek would be favored over the shark if they ever met. Let's not forget The Shark went life and death with a C+ fighter in Henry...please.:-(

 

the world does not revolve around who people have beat...u watch a fight with ur eyes and u say DAMN that guy is REALLY talented...he has the skills to fight calzaghe so why not a fight? too much is put on resumes...use the eye test and tell me he does not belong in the ring with calzaghe....the guy is a young stud
