I just called and left my message as well. if there's a steady influx of calls they're going to have to take notice. I'm sure the wheels are in motion and the tape is already being reviewed by officials but we still need to be on top of this. I have a lot of things to do but not so much to deter me from making a 2 minute phone call to help a courageous warrior out.
"Hi, I need to know the steps to formally file a protest against last night's unconscionable decision in Montreal. My phone number is 617 780 2966, my name is Cory Blamire, and I represent a massive community of outraged fans. Thank you."
What decision do you find particularly unconscionable? That the timekeeper decided not to do his job properly or that Bute decided to beat the count? And I am an Andrade fan who picked him to win by stoppage no less.
You need to be on your feet unsupported whatsoever by the ropes at a reasonable count of ten by the ref. The ref needs you to look him in the eyes, approach him, and state whether you are okay. Bute met none of these criteria. He therefore did not beat the count, and lost the fight.
He sure as hell beat the count by any way of counting out there. How was it his fault the timekeeper didn't signal to the referee the end of the fight? How was it his fault the referee didn't ask him to take a step forward to check whether he was out or not straightaway? How do you know he was out when it's impossible to know because he wasn't tested? All we know is he beat the count and going on that, he wasn't KOed.
Going by the rules he technically won the fight normally,he beat the count and the figth was over but it's all objective
He was tested because he stumbled back to his corner on spaghetti legs even after the ref waved it off as over. Had a competent ref said "come to me" Bute would have failed, I promise you. Also, Bute was up off the ground at the count of eight or nine (allowing discrepancy for different counting speeds), yes - BUT he was leaning on the ropes, first on one set, then on the adjacent, for an additional five seconds...you're NOT allowed to do that. That does NOT count as 'on your feet'. On his feet at eight + five seconds of leaning = THIRTEEN seconds = unable to beat the count.
He was leaning cuz Wright was telling Andrade to go to the corner,Andrade was giving him the time to recover, and you don't count those seconds cuz the count is stoped while talking to the other fighter.Andrade was giving Bute the time not the ref.
I mean,he was down and had to get up,he got up and the fight was over but it's referee objectivity to stop him or not.
Yes, it's Andrade's fault because he was all the way across the ring causing such a commotion and distracting the unbiased referee, who TURNED COMPLETELY around to harass him...I mean order him back to his corner.
Oh you promise me! Great! It doesn't matter what condition Bute was in after the fight was over. He could have died for all it would have mattered. As long as the referee was counting, Bute was allowed to do whatever the hell he wanted, even lie on his ass and write a poem. The only thing that matters is whether he is on his feet by the time the count reached eight. Bute beat the eight count with a second or two to spare. If the referee took a break from counting to put Andrade to right, why shouldn't Bute do whatever the hell he wanted, as long as he was no longer holding on by the referee's count of eight, after it resumed.
So you're contacting all the ABCs every time a referee is biased to his home boy? You got plenty of time on your hands then.
He wasn't leaning on anything when the count went eight. Watch the fight. Until the count went eight he was free to hang on to anything he liked. He fought hard to get back up and he beat the count by any standard.
