Victor Conte whose post-BALCO-scandal career has seen him once again working with pro athletes, including boxers has commented on Twitter about Lamont Petersons testing positive for synthetic testosterone. These are a few of the highlights: My opinion is that Lamont Petersons use of synthetic testosterone could be a smart method of doping and beat almost all test methods, Conte wrote. 200 mg [testosterone] pellet delivers 2 mg [testosterone] per day for about 100 days w/stable blood and urine levels. Boost T, yet under 4:1 [ratio] radar. Perfect. Plain and simple. Lamont Peterson did not make a declaration of use to anybody. Why? he wrote. Testosterone use by pellet, gel, patch, oral, cream and injection are all prohibited without TUE [therapeutic-use exemption]. I think Peterson has a tough row to hoe. News flash for boxing: Petersons doctor does not determine which substances are on an anti-doping prohibited substances list.
Yeah, there was an interview with this yesterday and I've posted it a few times. Didn't make sense at first and looked bad for the DC commission.
most likely. under usada probably as well. since it was vada a commonly agreed thing...peterson shoulda read the fine print. his excuse doesn't fly as well might be discredited in court. he costed gbp a lot of money and is now a known cheat. bad times for peterson. but yeah they did that in cycling for a while. get under that limit get under the rules becuase the doping authroities didn't want to do the carbon isotope test :-(.
What's worrying about Conte is that he knows everything about creating untraceable substances, yet he's still working with athletes, so his crusade against PEDs is highly questionable. He should join the good side don't get me wrong, but give up supplying athletes with "scientific nutritions" as he calls it, and THEN I'll believe he took an objective stance. Once a pedo, one should never be allowed a job at a kindergarten, that's my stance on Conte being involved with athletes. He's tainted for life.
Exactly, and this is why I still have misgivings about VADA in general. The fact that it was co-founded a guy who is not only still actively training fighters but also regularly getting into tiffs with other trainers just screams conflict of interest.
Do yourself a favor and go read Gabriel Montoya's last three articles. They're all related on PED's and the difference between detecting testosterone levels. The only effective method of detecting testosterone levels is via Carbon Isotope testing. There hasn't been one failed test. Though, Peterson MIGHT have a valid excuse.
