From the cyberpress. Pretty interesting analysis by Conte:

“Anyone who understands how anabolic steroids work knows that an athlete does not perform at their peak while using steroids. For example, sprinters actually run much slower while on steroids because they cause muscle tightness. Steroids work by a process known as cell volumization and this makes an athlete's muscles tight or "pumped," which actually reduces functional muscle performance.

The peak performance gains come 10-14 days after tapering off of testosterone. This is when an athlete becomes much more explosive and significantly faster. So testing an athlete at a time when he has tapered off a substance on purpose to maximize the performance benefits makes little sense.

The period from 10 weeks out from a fight until 2 weeks out should be the targeted drug testing period. The NSAC seems to lack a basic understanding of the way testosterone is used by athletes. I also highly question that Sonnen was being truthful when he testified that he had not previously used anabolic steroids or testosterone.

I believe the ruling made by the NSAC in the Sonnen case was not in the best interest of combat sports and it will encourage other fighters to use this approach to circumvent drug testing.”

Which is why COUNTLESS EXPERTS during the time of the 1st and 2nd negotiations repeatedly told FMJ and his camp that 2 WEEKS IS ALREADY ENOUGH WINDOW.

Let me say that again, a 14-day cutoff is completely sensible.

Conte owning *****s big time here.:rofl

Cleaning up the sport my ass. As I've said it was a roadblock turned good for the sport.

#1 Mayweather offered a 14 day cut off which was turned down by Pac for 24 days.

Reguardless, the point of unlimited up to the fight is to allow the testers to choose the cut off. Not for any fighter to have a pre determined cut off date. Giving the testers the FREEDOM to test within 2 weeks before the fight IF THEY FEEL THE NEED TO DO SO BASED OFF PREVIOUS TESTING RESULTS. Manny wanting a cut off date rejects the testers ability to freely test if they feel the need to.

Its not guaranteed that they would test 2 week before a fight, but they would like the option to be able to if they see fit.

So we're trying to get Conte kicked out of the sport because he was a huge PEDS pusher, but we should listen to his advice on the period we should test for? :patsch

It's not like he's still in fighters camps and could benefit from only being tested for a certain period of time. :nut

    ESB. Just wow.

I thought it was Floyd who asked for testing to the day of the fight and Team Pacquaio asked for a 14 day cutoff?

Boxing needs testing like they do in baseball. We test you when we want to, not when its convinient for you.

unlimited urine test all the way to fight day, blood test at the start of training camp, 24-30 before the fight then after the fight was and should have been sufficient.
