I'd back Conteh to beat Jones at lhw, or at least give him a torrid night. IMO Jones was not as good at 175 as he was at 168. A natural, fully-sized, proven quality lhw with the all-round game of Conteh would be a daunting task for Roy I think. At 168, Jones annihilates anything and everything.

Yeah, we should do this consistently, after Conteh, next month i'm making sure Yoko Gushiken gets his month of ESB CLssic fame and fortune.

    Hi folks

I'm new on here and probably only a whippersnapper compared to some of you so minimum castigation would be welcome :D. This is the best forum I've visited by a considerable degree, so I expect to learn a good deal from a few of you knowledgable gents whilst chucking in my own yokel-like opinion when the mood takes me.

Good thread to start with as Conteh is a fighter I like: at his best, ie pre-hand injury, I tend to think he could beat all the aforementioned men, RJJ included. He was versatile and would bring something to the table to trouble each man differently, as well as having a considerable nasty streak to compliment his skill.

Really i know, considering what i've seen on film. Was it a case of poor opposition though? Just curious, i hope not, because i want to believe that this man was a complete master of the ring in his prime, i'm that impressed. I do think Chang has a better resume at the weight though.

I was only kinda joking. Maske could lull superior fighters into his style of boxing. Maske is under-rated in this regard. Still, I'd put my money on Conteh.

However, no other light heavy champion was on the cover of Band on the Run so he was thusly supreme in all regards.

It's Winstone & Saldivar, not very distinct though, I didn't recognise it myself on first glance when I picked it. Two great fighters, Vicente especially.

The thought of Conteh-Galindez always intrigued me. Or Conteh vs the old Foster who pulled out a draw with Ahumada.
