I'm pretty confident in my semifinal brackets...about 85%. Bika & Johnsen from blue; Codrington & Soliman from gold. Soft spot though I may have for the hardworking vets, I don't want to overlook hungry young guys like Codrington, Johnsen, and Smith. Twist my arm...I'll pick the Scorpion.
Im rooting for Soliman, its hard not to like the guy...and was anyone surprised that he was the best conditioned? I know I wasnt, the guy throws a million damn punches. I also have a soft spot for Alexander (b/c I covered his third fight at the blue horizon, but I think his style is all wrong for the contender b/c he has little power, is jab heavy, and the ring will be small). and for Codrington b/c I would like to see him recover from that horrific loss.
My enthusiasm for this season took a hit with Rubin Williams being dismissed on the first episode. I like Codrington and Soliman to be in it for the long run and I have a feeling Banks will do well. If I had to make a pick it would be Soliman.
No where in my post did I blame the show. I will continue to watch it and be a fan. In another thread on this topic, I pointed out that Rubin has always had conditioning issues. It is no one's fault but his own.
Im just kidding man. It stinks when you have a rooting interest and it doesnt work out. Williams, in particular, blew a solid chance. He's pretty good, but clearly he took this too lightly.
I would have been, had I not seen the show. The touch-board thing was scary. He was SO slow to react. And he's all slurry. Bad news..that kid is obviously shot. HOpe the damage is not permanent, but it's hard to think otherwise with him so young.
McGirt was right though, they all needed to be on point by the time they even showed up if they wanted to prove they were taking it seriously. Williams and Santiago should've known better.
See, that's where I disagree with you. To a point. You certiainly cant measure heart. And those tests dont measure chin (Talking to you Jaidon). But, they do measure overall athletism, and why not measure that? Why not factor that into the sport, like other pro sports? Clearly the difference between the hand-eye coordination between Wells and the other was a MAJOR factor. And it was good to asses that before he got into the ring, where he would have gotten hurt. The guy is shot, not up to professional standards, and it's good that they caught that.
ouch. :yep to be fair, that mccrary kid got stopped by green too...as well as bute and jantuah. but none of them were brutal ko1. :yep
Would be interesting to se if they could measure some kind of test for chin though. Like on neck and trapezoid strength? There has got to be some kind of scientific analysis. One very interesting thing Atlas mentioned on FNF this year was an observation about "long necked fighters". And not 30 seconds after he made the point about how succeptible they are, the dude got somked. and Codrington is kind of similar in that build.
no fight last night, they just cut 16 down to 10 based on performance evaluation. even at that it was pretty interesting; they went all out this season -good fighters -good coaches (corea, mcgirt) -lots of cameos i wasn't really a fan of seasons 1&2, although i watched them, but 3 should be a good season
