They actually got some real fighters this time. What's the over/under on number of fights before Codrington getting starched by some unknown fighter? http://sports.espn.go.com/sports/boxing/columns/story?columnist=rafael_dan&id=2959700
Guess not. He fought his last fight at 168, and he could handle most of these guys. Also, it reports that the fights will be shown uncut. Now if only they could get rid of the video game sound effects....
Yeah, no kidding on the sound effects. But if that's what it takes to get the fights on air, I'm all for it. I wonder how tried and true pros will hold up under the reality TV microscope. Should be interesting. Part of me thinks the younger guys might adapt better to this kind of format, but on the other hand they may be more likely to get distracted. The field is much, much better than usual, so credit to ESPN for that. The semifinal rounds should be legitimate TV fights, at least undercards for one of the networks.
****ing brilliant, real fighters with real potential some of them. I would say Paul Smith would win, but im not to sure he'll acclimatise to 168pounds well
Anybody know when it airs?? Im gonna go with an underdog on this one and pick Rubin Williams, Last season i picked Grady Brewer from the beginning... little proud of that
Yap, going with Sakio. He's been in there with Bute and Calzahge, and gave both of them good fights. However, you never know. There might be another Alfonzo Gomez in there some where. The contender is an awesome reality show. BTW, anybody watch Fight Girl? That's pretty good too
These guys are now realizing The Contender is a relatively easy way to get a name and a title fight. Because of this they have attracted a better class of fighter than the first 2 series.
