That's what gets me Zak- I know exactly what you mean about the reward needing to be worth the risk, which is why I wanted to emphasize that in each case the man was walking away from huge paydays that 99.9% of boxers will never see along with the pride and prestige of the championship fight. Out of the matches listed, only Angulo had an offer for less than a million and even then, he had a guarantee that he wouldn't lose his ranking at 154 along with the 750k purse.

Povetkin rejected 2 million. Paul's was 1.5. I don't have the exact figure on Haye, but it certainly would've been at least 5-10 million in a 50/50 fight vs Wlad.

I understand the risk-reward scenario; but what's been happening is that it seems like guys have gone from just wanting favorable ones to ones where they want all reward and zero risk.

The best fights have gone from "not always occurring" to it being an unusual event when any fairly matched fight does happen. A ton of great potential fights aren't happening, and that's a damn shame.

No, but Al Haymond has his fingers in more boxers influentially, Golden Boy, Goosen Tudor, Top Rank, DiBella, Shaw.......rest assured when i tell you he is the puppet master in advising boxers which are the easier bouts for them without any regard to the sport

Arum is no patron saint of the sport......but he can only control what he has in his stable.......Haymond's tenticles reach across promotional lines across the board
