I love a good descriptive breakdown of various great fighter's styles...especially of the stylists...the boxers. I have my ideas of this thread question, but I would appreciate the descriptions and ****ysis of some of you learned scribes. Three fighters, somewhat overlapping timeline, careerwise...the Joeys.....Maxim, Giardello and Archer. I look forward to this.

I would need more archer to do this effectively but...

Both giardello and maxim were boxers. Giardello was an original a slick guy but unconventional if not unique; Maxim was more technical albeit not as gifted. Giardello probably peaked higher but was far more inconsistent. Someone once described Giardello as learning straight from the school of hard knocks. When Maxim lost he was usually just in over his head whereas giardello could blow a fight. Maxim was tougher (not that giardello wasn't tough) with a superb chin and solid defense. Neither guy had tremendous pop but they weren't complete feather fists. I think Maxim was a better light heavyweight than Giardello was a middleweight.
