seems to be all types of different kinds of steroids. if you have some who really knows there peds an which ones to take then yes man it gives u an edge. i hate the whole steroid thing bcuz i like to try to convince my self that there good guys out there that dont cheat.

i always would like to defend manny pacman even tho he was so damn good ppl think hes on steroids. or u can say he was just a great boxer in his prime. who was sharp cuz he would work hard and be active in the gym. athletes are capable of special things. is that unreasonable that in his peak/prime he was just a flippin animal. i mean he was only at his best for prolly 2007-2010... floyd dominated and looked flawless pretty much from 2005- till about the maidana fight in 2014. different styles floyd conserved his body. many fought his heart out so wen he was peakin he was fightin like there was no tomorrow. i give manny the benefit of the doubt... i think hes overated in the first place an the steroid accusations are unfair on manny. mayweather clan yelled peds n everyone ran with it.

Is this question serious? "Performance Enhancing Drugs." Answer is in their name........ Nah.... They dont work, athletes who get paid to compete in their sport dont bother with them. Bro, of course they work, tremendously well. But they arent the "be all end all" and are instead one of the more prominent and effective competitve edges athletes sometimes risk their career for. Part of stacking the deck.

I believe that both Manny and Floyd used steroids, but the steroids did not make them great- they were both already great. The steroids allowed them gain muscle weight while allowing them to keep their attributes of speed, defensive reflexes etc.
Floyd was great at 130, even 135, but he was an undercard fighter who couldn’t draw flies to sh!t. When he went up to 147/154 he began to transcend the sport and the money came rolling in. Manny was a beast at 122-135, but guys in those weight classes simply don’t earn the big bucks. Would you want to slug it out with jmm for 4 million dollars over 36 rounds or make 20 million fighting Cotto and margarito? The higher weights are where the big money is at. Maybe in your mind steroids tarnish their image, but not in mine. Sports is no place to seek out moral heroes; Floyd and Manny and many others did what they thought they had to do to make as much as they can in a cutthroat sport in a cutthroat world.

Brother, the question wasn’t do they work at all, but rather why don’t they seem to work as well for boxers as they do for other athletes in other sports.

Laughable to suggest that PEDs don't help boxers. They can help with fast twitch muscles, and explosiveness, i.e. power, quickness, and speed. They can also help with endurance.

Does PED make you a better boxer? NOPE. What it can do is give a boxer an edge in strength, stamina, endurance, aggression, and speed. The PED will depend on what extra edge the boxer is looking for.

Tat extra edge can make you a world champion. So yes the reward is great and many will go to great lenght to do it.

I personally think it takes away from the sport and anyone caught should be stripped. When you start allowing unnatural element into the game you are opening up pandora's box.

@Jackstraw, you mind the edit to your title? Figure this will nip some of the boneheaded knee-jerk responses in the bud. (plus, I notice another mod came along to delete this, perhaps mistakenly believing it to be another in the nigh-endless string of trolling PED-related threads we get around here...this makes it a bit less of a target, I think, if "nerdier" and less sexy than "Do PEDs really affect boxers?"...)

By all means edit it as you see fit, IB. I appreciate your moderating this. In retrospect, I should’ve put more thought into the title. Not to mention, I’m already so nerdy and unsexy nobody’s going to notice anyway :)
