Do any of you have some boxing opinions you really strongly believe are true, but chances are most people here would disagree with? Lets get some heated discussions going.... :hey I'll start..... - Prime RJJ was Top-5 P4P in history if you rate purely on talent and head-to-head. - Prime DLH would beat the current version of Floyd. - So would prime Mosley. - Lennox would have beaten Vitali if the rematch had happened within a year of the first fight - Tyson is one of the most overrated fighters in history. - Don King, overall, has been good for the sport of boxing Discuss......
Wlad has one of the worst chins of any title holder I ever seen, especially a fighter who some think will be an ATG when his career is over.
Well I agree mostly. Though Im not sure Don King is that good for boxing..? How about Lennox Lewis beats any version of Mike Tyson. Marco Antonio Barrera rightly won the rematch with Morales, no robbery there! Castillo - Mayweather 1 was not a robbery, Floyd was the rightful winner. Gatti - Ward trilogy as a whole is overrated.
I think Don has been bad for some individual boxers (the dumb or desperate ones that didn't read their contracts before signing), but if you look at the events he made happen and the profile he helped to bring to the sport, I think Don has been good for boxing. I agree Lennox beats any version of Tyson. Also... Holyfield beats any version of Tyson. Prime Lennox beats any version of Holyfield. .... and .... Prime Tyson beats any version of Bowe. :hey
Firstly, you might be right about Jones..he had the talent, but after his signature wins over Toney and Hopkins, he started holding out when it came to the more potentially interesting fights. He didn't want to go to Germany, so we never got to see what he could do against his most serious challenger, Michielsewski. Instead he fought Policemen, and other mediocre challengers that make Calzaghes bum of the month club look like ATG's. He wanted to win a Heavyweight belt, so he went against the biggest joke of a "titleholder" in Ruiz. I laugh when he refers to himself as a "heavyweight champ". Yeah, he beat Ruiz but John wasn't the best big guy out there, not by a long shot. A case could be made for a top ATG rating, but how to compare Roy against Billy Conn or Archie Moore who fought at the top longer, took on all comers, and fought the premeir heavys of their day, not hand picked second raters? If DLH ever dreamed he could beat Floyd at any time of their careers, he should wake up and apologize. It IS possible Mosely would have given Floyd the fight of his life. But I'd still pick Floyd. Vitali did as well as he was ever going to do against Lennox. Klit wouldn't have beaten Lewis in a month of Sundays. Tyson had an awesome, if short run. I doubt if any one really serious compares his accomplishments to those of Ali, Louis, Johnson. Don King HAS been good for boxing, but only in the course of his own ambitious greed. If he ever had to choose between doing good for someone else or his own bank account, the choice for Don is a no-brainer.This guy is no Albert Schweitzer. He ripped off a lot of fighters that lacked his business savvy with no apologies. Those who were done well by Don where the ones who never turned their backs on him.
