Hearns over Robinson, Leonard and Napoles over 10 rounds.

Yeah..its a bout that gets talked about from time to time.

Bob had that extra experience and his power was at that level he could turn a fight on its head at anytime or keep the other bloke under raps.

Foster was a great ring general IMO. He knew how to keep a fight exactly where he wanted it..that would have been hard for John, who perhaps never became as polished as he could have been.

Anything less then a top shelf performance from Bob however, I see him losing..Conteh was some fighter.

That's pretty much it. Subjectivity's not my strong point (I'm a stubborn twat at times) but if I'm being completely honest, Foster at his very best probably does win. Man was a H2H brute and the complete package at 175; the KO's over Tiger, Quarry and Rondon make me feel cold whenever I watch them; the poor *******s all looked stone dead.

I'll second that. At any weight.

Janitor, I'm not as well-versed as many on the old timers, but I have to say it's refreshing as anything to read your posts. So well researched and thought out. I lack the time and dedication to dig deeper into that era. Bold call on Barbados Joe, though he did beat some big fellows....

Barbados Joe Walcott is a bit like Bob Fitzsimmons, in that you research his career, and start to find your opinions going places you never expected them to go.

Yeah. Chuvalo was a tough ******* but he broke his orbital bone. His eye was supposedly dropping into his cheekbone or something. It was a bad bad injury - career ending for most but we're talking about Chuvalo here.

What you say about outwilling is how I feel about Marciano. Interestingly enough, watching the Chuvalo fight just shows how great Frazier was. He was so damn quick on his feet and with his head movement. He was using angles, backing up, getting his chest in Chuvalo's chest and pounding away technically and efficiently.

    Marciano over Frazier

    Walcott over Norton

    Marciano over Louis

    Basilio over Hearns

    Duran over Armstrong

Which is always a good thing. I'm going to have to delve a bit deeper when I get the chance; it's an era that shouldn't be forgotten by any generation.

Back on track, Saldivar over Sanchez. And that one pains me. I really like Sanchez.

I think winstone should actually be the sensible betting favourite over Marquez and Morales, though certainly it's a worthy pick in the context of today's general opinions.

    A few others

    Lora over Jofre
    canizales over Olivares
    kalule over mayweather at 154
Crisanto Espana could possibly beat most of the big name Welters of the nineties, especially Oscar stylistically.

Great post. That about sums it up right there. Vitali wouldn't keep Joe off of him and his power (much like Cooney's) is overrated.

In my opinion. You have to KO Frazier to beat him over 15. Maybe a prime Ali could pull it off but after him, there's nobody I would pick to be able to outpoint Joe over 15.

I guess I am in the minority as well. I pick Jones over Monzon.

    Also Frazier over Marciano

    Jones over Charles

    Holmes over Tyson

    etc.
