There's a vocal minority(that I happen to be a part of) that thought Cerrone won last week. Rd 1 - 10-9 Cerrone Rd 2 - 10-9 Cerrone Rd 3 - 10-9 Lawler 29-28 Cerrone Round 1 is the one that's disputed. Lawler came out trying to blitz Cerrone out early, and while landing some hard shots and winning the first minute or two of the round but it wasn't enough to get what he wanted and Cerrone fought back with hard shots of his own inside and out of the clinch. The second half of the round saw Cerrone complete a takedown and hold it for a good while and establish his range a bit better on the feet. http://mmadecisions.com/decision/8333/fight
Going to rewatch Condit/Lawler and Condit/Diaz sometime this week. Two infamous fights with controversial decisions that involved NBK.
There's a lot of fights that could go the other way. One I felt particularly strongly about was Coleman Vs Rizzo. Before scoring but to me Mark had improved his cardio and clearly did enough to win. Not sure what criteria favours Rizzo. It has been a while since I saw it though.
That's one most thought Coleman deserved to win, on the flip side Rizzo/Couture I is one most thought Rizzo decisively took.
I mentioned it in another thread but Diaz/Condit was a controversial decision. Diaz arguably won the first 2 rounds and took Condit's back in the 5th attempting a couple sub attempts. There have been many, many controversial decision in the UFC over the years and I'd have to watch a lot over again to post scorecards.
Looking back on it, BJ Penn might be one of the most robbed fighter of alltime. Pulver 1, Uno 2, GSP 1, Edgar 1 and Fitch were all decisions that I thought he clearly won. The complexion of his career would've looked a lot different had he gotten the nod in those fights.
I thought Condit won both of those fights. Imo he won all 5 rds v Diaz and from memory I thought he beat Lawler 3-2 in a brilliant fight.
Condit v Lawler was close but I thought Condit deserved it. I couldn't believe it when somehow the judges somehow scored for Rampage over Machida few years ago
Yeah both of those decisions were utter BS. Personally thought Hendricks won both fights against Lawler.
Quinton Jackson vs. Forrest Griffin - 5 rounds for the UFC Light-Heavyweight title. Rd 1 - 10-9 Jackson Rd 2 - 10-9 maybe 10-8 for Griffin? Dominated the round start to finish. Hurt Jackson bad with the low kicks, threatened with a few subs and maintained top position for the entire round thereafter. Rd 3 - 10-9 Griffin Rd 4 - 10-9 Jackson Rd 5 - 10-9 Griffin Either 48-47 Griffin or 48-46 Griffin are fine. No way Jackson won this fight. Simply out-hustled and out game-planned by Griffin. Not sure why so many argue that Jackson won this fight, there just isn't a valid case for it.
Thought the judges did a pretty good job for the most part... But what fight was Byrd watching? http://mmadecisions.com/decision/1040/Forrest-Griffin-vs-Quinton-Jackson How the hell do you give Griffin the 1st and Jackson the 5th?
This is one I'm looking forward to watching. I think it's the shock factor that the guy who out struck Liddell and out grappled Henderson was out hustled by Griffin.
