    Jorge Masvidal series part I

Jorge Masvidal vs. Paul Daley - 3 rounds at Welterweight

Rd 1 - 10-9 Daley - pushed the pace, landed harder as well as more significant strikes.

    Rd 2 - 10-9 Masvidal - 3 takedowns, over a minute of top control.

Rd 3 - 10-9 Daley. Pushed the pace while on the feet - landed harder shots and more strikes overall. Masvidal wasn't able to do much at all with his takedowns.. Daley stuffed the 2nd attempt, landed some good ground and pound before returning to the feet landing some more strikes and capping the round off with a takedown of his own + ground and pound.

    29-28 Daley.

Afraid I don't see where the controversy lies in this one... Masvidal shelled up too much on the feet(that looks terrible to the judges) Daley landed more significant strikes overall in addition to coming forward whenever the fight was standing.

Nice retort. Masvidal did nothing but lay and pray. Daley was the aggressor and won most of the stand up exchanges.

Yeah you're right... Masvidal won it by securing a brief takedown that he wasn't able to do anything with and by shelling up like Kevin Johnson on the feet. Face it... Your homeboy lost this one fair and square.

I also used to think that fight was a robbery until I recently rewatched it. Lawal clearly won the 1st and Mousasi clearly won the 2nd. Rounds 3-5 could've gone either way depending on how your scoring criteria leans, it also should be remembered that Mousasi was deducted a point by McCarthy in the 5th (complete BS ruling but it's official).

Going to hold off on the Sanchez and Masvidal series and sit through Garcias controversial fights throughout today-tomorrow.

Leonard Garcia mugs Asians part I

Leonard Garcia vs. Chan Sung Jung I - 3 rounds at Featherweight

Rd 1 - Jung gets the better of the stand up throughout the round, drops and nearly finishes with ground and pound. Hurts him once or twice more. Today this would have probably been a 10-8, back then it was more borderline. 10-9 Jung easy

Rd 2 - Jung starts out where he left off and lands some nice shots before getting hurt and dropped. Although not as heavily as Garcia in the 1st. Jung recovers and wins most of the on the feet as well as the mat. a slight case for Jung winning it can be made, but Garcia takes it based on hurting Jung early. 10-9 Garcia close.

Rd 3 - Jung does practically nothing for 2 1/2 minutes before finally deciding to turn it on. Garcia started out well with a lot of low kicks and few combinations(mostly blocked) Jung finds Garcia with a good amount of power punches against the fence but Garcia eats them. Jung spends most of the last 30-40 seconds walking forward with Garcia landing the odd low kick. It's a fairly close round due to Jungs inactivity in long stretches. Jung takes it though. 10-9 Jung

    29-28 Jung

While Jung deserved the nod... This wasn't as much of a highway robbery as I remember it being. Granted it's still a fairly poor decision, but Jung fought a poor fight and could have had an easy night had he stayed tight and picked Garcia apart(Jung is actually capable of some fairly tight and technical striking by MMA standards when he's up to it) There have been decisions a lot worse than this one... One can play devils advocate and make a fair case for Garcia winning 29-28, but at the same time an argument for Jung sweeping every round can also be made. Good wild scrap, although nowhere the best fight of all time. It was sure a sight to behold live though.

Funny enough... I thought he got the better of Max Holloway, who of course the top dog at 145 as well as one of the best in the sport currently.
