This fight could make anyone a fan of both fighters. Truly brilliant performance from both men. Aside from Manny, Floyd and probably Donaire I don't think there is talent like this around today.

I thought he beat Taylor at the time too, although I've not actually watched it since. That being said I'll do another thread like this when I get round to watching that fight.

115-113 winky, it is actually pretty good that vargas gave winky a tough fight, vargas was a man when it came to fighting tough guys at a young age.

First of all: awesome thread. Finally something good to read that isn't pacweathering/klit.

Fernando looked really sharp in this fight. Sometimes I forget how good he was in his prime. Winky backing Fernando up was really something to watch, but Fernando's combinations and mixing body/head was really sharp. I think Winky won narrowly.

Those US 96 Olympians in Vargas, Reid and Mayweather came along at a pretty quick pace. Vargas took on the likes of Marquez, Campas, Wright and Trinidad in a pretty short space of time, all respect to him.

Cheers. I'll be weighing in with some more. One later on today or on Sunday.

Both men looked really good and showed a versatility in skills.
