What are some controversial fights where a referee has made some outlandish, poor, and bogus decisions that really affected the fight outcome? Whether it be a ref who is constantly interfering and showing bias / favoritism, letting one fighter get too rough and dirty, DQing a fighter for no apparent reason, stopping a fight prematurely, calling a BS knockdown or making a bogus decision of taking a point away from another fighter that would ultimately cost them from winning the fight, what are some examples of a fighter losing a fight because of poor refereeing?

Freddie Norwood vs Derick Gainer. The ref made a mockery of the whole fight, especially the ending.

The Dempsey-Sharkey fight ending was pretty terrible.

The more I thought about it, the more I think there wouldn't have been any strong argument against Sharkey being the winner had the ref dq'd Dempsey on the spot.

Tony Perez did some nasty calling in the Super Fight II and in Hagler vs. Roldan. The ref for Tillis-Shavers was awful. Tyson-Ruddock I.

Was just about to write that one. Was a disgrace! Couldn't help but smile when Mares got destroyed by Jhonny Gonzalez because of this

That was one of the most satisfying fight I’ve seen. Karma was gonna get to him at some point. Only wish he got low blowed to death before the stoppage.

Most egregious example I’ve probably ever caught.

    Bowe-Lewis

Bowe was hopping, hands waving in the air when the ref stopped it. Far from a finished fighter.

    That stoppage was a gift.

Joe Cortez DQing Humberto Soto against Francisco Lorenzo 1 for absolutely no good reason at all deserves a mention.

George Khalid Jones vs. Beethaeven Scottland. Watched it on TV. The announcers were SCREAMING, as I recall, several rounds before Arthur Mercante Jr. actually stopped it, for him to stop the fight, even stating several times that, "this is how fighters get killed." Scotland died from injuries suffered in the bout six days later.
