It's an interesting take. Not sure I agree, but not sure I disagree either. If you look at not only who Floyd fought, but the versions he fought, he didn't fight the best versions of DLH, Hatton, Canelo, or Pacquiao for example. Floyd has those names on his resume, but none of those guys were prime or at their best weight. Hatton for example was not the same fighter at 147 than he was at 140. Remember Hatton was seen as getting a gift against Collazo in Boston in his first fight at welter. Collazo was a good fighter but Hatton struggled mightily that night. The speed wasn't the same, the KO power wasn't the same from when he was running through 140. So there is an argument that Spence and Crawford are better than anyone Floyd fought when you consider the versions of the big names Floyd fought when he did.

That is not a controversial opinion; that is a profoundly stupid opinion.

As I said though your basing this on Spence and Crawford's mediocre resume. Crawford's best win is vs Postol, and Spence's best win is a blown up Lightweight in Garcia who moved up 2 weightclasses to fight him.

Neither man has beaten any top names yet so who's to say how they would do once they step up to the next level ?

So your theory and the OP's theory on Spence/Crawford being better opponents than opponents Mayweather beat is just pure speculation.

And I would argue that Crawford or Spence could beat Pacquiao at 147 or ODLH and Canelo at 154, I would also argue that Crawford could beat a prime Castillo at 135 aswell.
