My last attempt at a controversial statement wasn't controversial enough.;)

Prime Bowe remains the most well rounded & talented big (6'4+) heavyweight I've seen.

Great jab, very good on the inside, fast hands, big puncher, good chin & a massive heart. Bowe had it all & the world at his feet, he could've/should've been one of the greatest.

I think Lewis would have spanked him if im honest.

I'd also pick Holmes to outjab him. Wlad would have kept it at long range against him and would probably eek out a decision (although I'm not too confident). Tyson would probably knock him out as well. I know he was a good few years past his best, but Golota was beating handily before he went all crazy

The fact is Bowen shouldn't have been way past his best when he got to Golota. Talented, but not consistent in his dedication, not the greatest chin, and ranks low for longevity.

I agree with Mo's sentiments though, a waste of talent.

As a massive & unashamed Bowemo I have to say in his defense that by the 1st Golata fight he was slurring his words, he was overweight & looked like his reflexes had completely gone.

Golata was at his (relative) best & threw the kitchen sink at Bowe & couldnt finish him. He got fustrated & fouled himself out. The 2nd fight was even worse, Bowe took an insane amount of punishment but wouldnt give in, he even knocked Golata down before the foul Pole lost it again.

Bowe was poorly managed & he lacked dedication, but the talent is clearly there to see when he was at his best, although it was only for a brief time. His heart is beyond question imo, going 40+ fights & only losing once by a single point deserves respect. His record isnt as bad as some think, I cant be bothered to check but he might be the only heavy to have won the WBC, WBA, WBO & IBF titles.

  15. Yeah, Bowe was potentially a special fighter.

I wonder if he regrets not taking on Lewis in 1992 - I think he'd have won.
