Yup, because it backs up my point Seriously tho, Valdez was coming to the end of his career. The Machen fight was impressive from what i remember (havent watched in absolute ages), and I dont think ive ever seen the Wepner fight. He did beat a lot of good contenders. But i suppose the problem with me is, i dont particualrly rate Patterson (his best win), who had already been absolutely starched by Ingemar. WHile he did get his revenge twice, he was lucky to get out of the first round in their rubber match Liston is a top 15 fighter for me, but not a top 10'er
The age issue is a valid one. Who knows how old he was when Ali beat him? It makes a lot of difference I'll give him that
With my research complete on my 'Greatest fighters of the original 8 weight classes'. Harry Greb, my p4p ATG, came in the top 3 Middleweights of all time. Now, while i'm a greb fan, and i know he has a damn good resume, I'd always rated him higher as a Light Heavy.
That's why he's the greatest. Arguably a top 3 at middle and light heavy...ridiculous :-( Who were 1&2 at 160?
Could it be anyone other than Marvin and Monzon Flea :yep Along with the top 4 fighters in each division, i'm also hoping to add an 'author's' pick as well. Not necessarily who i think should be number 5 per say, just an ATG in the division who may have been overlooked
I can't make room for sonny in my top ten. Also I think lineage is completely overrated by those who take the time to trace it. I'm a firm believer the man makes the belt and not the other way round.
