    Felix Trinidad ruined 3 fighters:

    David Reid
    Fernando Vargas
    Ricardo Mayorga

A non-ruined Mayorga would have knocked out Michele Piccirilo in a round, probably would have done the same to Fernando Vargas, and could have lasted the distance against Oscar De La Hoya.

    ^^^

    I wouldn't say that's controversial.

Saying that Trinidad beat De La Hoya is though :hey

Even though Oscar kinda brought it on himself to get fired for running the last three rounds.

Paul Spadafora was a very skilled boxer, pity he didnt fight some of the very good light-weights around in his day. Not controversial but just wanted to get that out there:p

    I agree with this.

Reid :-( What a loss that was.

Even the Piccirilo in a round bit? I was pushing the boundaries their, I thought :yep.

I thought De La Hoya beat Trinidad close but clear, but it's not the robbery some make it out to be, and it's perfectly understandable why De La Hoya didn't get that decision.

It's tough to watch. Such a nice guy, so classy, seeing the beating he took in the last 6 rounds is kind of saddening.

What a ****ing beast Trinidad was.

I recently scored it and was amazed that I only had it 115-113 to Oscar. When I'd watched it in the past I always thought 'what a joke' but now the dust has settled it's clear that Tito won the last 3 and shaded a couple of mid-rounds.

But I can't find another round to give him a draw ;-) So the verdict was still ridiculous!

Yes, but also encouraging. The attributes he displayed in that fight, plus the experience he would've gained from it....I would've love to have seen what he could've went on to do if he had not suffered the eye injury (as if he didn't already have enough eye problems)

Anyway, this has already been one of my controversial opinions :D So I'll knock the Reid praise on the 'ead.

I always say it; Best 6 round job anyone ever did on Tito Trinidad (I rank it above Hopkins because I genuinely think Tito was at his absolute peak at 154 pounds and proved it time and time again with his performances there). I had him 60-52 up, scored a knockdown with a great straight right, and was largely outboxing Tito. Can't believe how it all changed so drastically in round 7.

He was somewhat tense in the early rounds all the same if I remember though, he built up solid lead but just wouldnt let his hands go enough.

Rounds 1 & 2 were dead close, he was tense like you say, and they could have gone to Tito (**** him though, I gave them to Reid :yep) but David did establish himself, and rounds 3-6 were all Reid IIRC.

Watching Reid-Trinidad always reminds me of Moore-Duran, some similar parrallels.

Regardless of pro experience, I think summat similar might've happened anyway. Reid was obviously open to the right hand as it he perspired more (and his droopy eye fell down more) but Tito uses it to walk him onto his left hook more, nd then opens up with some starling combinations.

    -Reid gets up

    -He fights back

-He shows incredibly powers of recovery and heart

-He still shows some good defensive slips in the fight. In fact, he shows this throughout the fight in close, just got caught BIG a few times. He wasn't that fast at actually stepping out of range either Reid, though he seemed to know what he was supposed to be doing. Which meant he was going straight backwards pretty ponderously as he got tired, which made it easier for Tito to come back and lay it on him.

But Reid seemed quality. With the knockdowns, the score obviously becomes les flattering but yeah, his ability to take rounds off/outfight/outbox Tito for parts of the fight would've been impressive for any top-level fighter at the time, so I feel pretty aggrieved me didn't get to see him again. Seemed a top, tough operator and a nice guy as well.

Serious power in the right hand as well.

His title winning fight against some Frog who's like a bigger, better Kotelnik IMO (from this one fight I've seen of him ;-) but his resume beforehand was surprisingly very decent wins over Vasquez, Castellijo, and Guillermo Jones) is on youtube now......**** it here it is :good

The Frenchies ability to hit Reid early is worrying, but Reid shows quality at times.

Far less one sided though ;-)

Poor Davey. Still, he beat Kalule

Good breakdown of the Trinidad fight, agree with everything their.

I've never seen that fight (Reid vs Boudouani), so as soon as I've finished Mayorga vs Piccirilo, I'm gonna watch it :good
