DeGale has impressed at times yeah, but look how much criticism he's had for a couple of iffy showings, his debut especially.

He fought his warm up for Groves at 175, not that it really matters.

Like Frankie he's good for either.

I think we should see how Gavin goes with this new diet and how his weight is before we pile into him. If he's at 147 again but comes back stronger nothing needs to be said. If he's at 140 and half dead, move up.... if he's at 140 and strong, he'll do well and the back slappers on here will be out in force.

Making the weight is only important for a ''proper'' title fight, lots of Americans weigh in at 150lbs for welterweight ten rounders. Cutting weight only puts miles on the clock, after all.

He has power to hurt and stop folk at 168 Dan, so its ok for him to be at that weight. I would of liked to see him at 160 myself tho as its a weaker division (bar martinez obviously).

Degale has allowed himself to be in those fights by performing to a better standard than Gavin has.
Frank probably has more confidence in him too hence the reason allowed him in with Smith and the big Groves fight to happen. He didn't let the Theophane fight happen did he, that speaks volumes in that respect.

    Good post.

I agree with that to be fair. I'm just find it staggering that Frank is still struggling to make his weight or even knowing his optimum fighting weight considering he has been a pro now for 2 years.

To put this to bed I think Gavin will only do better if he moves on and knuckles down. If Arnie whips into good shape then fair play and Gavin wins well, then Arnie must get some credit. If Gavin looks lacklustre yet again and performs poorly then questions MUST be asked...

Joseph Agbeko has only once lost legitimately, against Yonnhy Perez in their first encounter.

Also, he has never suffered a legitimate knockdown.

    Not even controversial.

Probably not controversial, but **** it:

The general forum should be closed down forever!

The Pacquiao fans are nearly as bad.

What does me in over there is that every thread turns into a Pac vs Floyd argument with the usual suspects on each side.

Floyd fans react to any criticism of their hero with ''STFU *******'', whereas Pac fans actually believe that Pacquiao beat Marquez twice and and that he's a genuine eight weight world champion.

Got to say though, at least Pacquiao has proven himself at the top level in the welterweight division.

    :deal

That last paragraph about Pac proving himself in WW division would have been worth a good 4-5 pages of replies.

Cant we just agree to disagree?

Robert Guerrero has no killer instinct and couldn't finish a cheeseburger, never mind a hurt opponent.

    Any ideas for more threads?

Can't use ''Lewis TKO6'' any longer.

How about ''Marquez will school Pacquiao for a 3rd time'' with plenty of :deal's, seen as the ****** room think you're emphasising your point when you use that.

Honestly don't think that win is as clear cut as it's made out to be. I had it 114-113 Perez and there were a number of close rounds which could have gone either way.

Alejandro Lopez beating Teon Kennedy isn't a big upset. You could smell it coming from a mile away.

Also Marquez vs Diaz I is an absolute classic, and is better than both Vazquez vs Marquez fights (I've watched them all recently.

My point is that it's his only legitimate defeat, which it was.

It was close, but I've never scored it to Agbeko.
