Is it ******ed to give Meldrick Taylor/Buddy McGirt round 5 10-8 to Taylor?

There's no knockdown, but Taylor really batters Buddy in this round. Mcgirt landed a few of his own, but for the most part he was just pawing with jabs whilst getting smacked with hard hooks by Meldrick. Could this be a 10-8 round on Taylor's dominance? Or am I tripping balls?

    I wouldn't, but it's not far off.

It's laughable when you think a fighter can be losing a round, score a flash KD and be generally awarded the round by two points in his favour, or smacked around the ring for three minutes and lose by one.

Then again I scored round 12 of Hatton/Collazo 10-8, so this is probably fair game.

I think the guy in my avatar would know a lot about that (vs Adamek round 4) :yep.

Never seen Adamek hurt that much before, can't believe he recovered to put Steve down.

Should only be 10-9 if that's how you've seen the action IIRC :think

Yeah. 10-9 to boxer A without the KD. 2 points for the KD makes it 10-9 to boxer B.

And thats still pretty generous to Boxer B if the KD is all he's done for the last 3 minutes.

Any examples of this? I'm struggling off the top of my head.

Different, but one judge scored to 1st round of Pac-Marquez 1 as 10-7 :huh The correct 10-6 wouldve given Manny a one point win.

The criteria for scoring a knock down is not based on the premise that the fighter who scores the knockdown automatically is awarded a 10-8. The correct criteria that is taught by Duane Ford in his ABC certification classes for boxing judges is:

If Fighter A is winning the round and scores a knockdown and continues to win the round after the knockdown, then Fighter A is awarded the round 10-8. However, if Fighter A is winning the round and gets knocked down by Fighter B, then Fighter B is awarded the round 10-9. The key is: Which fighter won the round without the knockdown? Thus, most fans and TV commentators are incorrect in automatically scoring a 10-8 round for a fighter who scores a knock down without taking into consideration who won the round without the knock down.

Can't honestly remember mate. I just remember there being a thread on the scoring of a round in that fight where some people were scoring it 9-9 or 9-8 because they didn't think Cotto had done enough outside of the KD to get a 2 point advantage in the round.

Yup if I remember it right it was round 1 and Clottey had dominated the round until going down because of his balance ona jab.

Any judge would be justified giving it 10-9 to Cotto rather than 10-8.
