Rocky prepared for a 15 round fight, you think he cared whether Walcott was ahead after 12?! One of the dumbest posts I've ever seen.

I gave the 30s as an example where there were many more active boxers in a much more competitive time. Marciano didn't fight in the 30s either.

What has Sonny Liston got to do with anything? How has Liston, who I have made no reference to, so you have no idea of my opinion of him, got to do with a discussion involving nothing of the sort. What am I supposed to have overlooked about Charles Liston?

I'm on my iPhone so can't even see the vids your posting. Fact is, I could find plenty of modern **** to counteract it, an I'm not even sure what point you're trying to make any more.

One of 'em is Wlad. Yes, he's always a fantastic example of a great fighter :-(

Explain why you think having more is better.

How was the 1930s more competitive....then say the 1990s

Your making out that i said 'all fighters back then are club fighters' i pointed out Sonny Liston came about a few years later after ROCKY retired showing what i think is a great heavyweight.

For the record i dont think rocky is a club fighter, but in certain fights looked **** poor.

Ive just posted his best fight with walcott some argue his first fight against charles was his best.

Im pointing out that in different circumstances rocky would have lost...no fighter prolongs things....so the quicker the better hence rocky knocking out walcott in 1 round in the rematch.

Rocky also had a draw against Lastarza but they had a new rule they were trying out to prevent draws...ref gave it to rocky.

Dont know where your 190 is from...rock never weighed that for his title fights...his mean weight for title fights was 186....his first fight against walcott was at 184. Its pedantic i know but i feel that your trying to boost his weight a little as you know it plays apart.

I think Holyfield at 208-215 would have beaten both Klitshckos...

You said 70s and 90s earlier I'm sure :think

Either way, this is the weakest HW era since the Fitz-Corbett-Jeffries-Sharkey-Maher days IMO. 70s-80s-90s for sure **** all over it. And the so-called lesser era's from Louis' domination through to Liston smashing Patterson inside a round certainly housed more talented fighters, here and there anyway.

I said i felt that the 1970s and 1990s were the top in terms of head to head....and that from 2000 - 2010 was 3rd in my view.

This decade has only just begun...

    1. 1990s
    2. 1970s
    3. 2000s
    4. 1980s
    5. 1960s
    6. 1950s
    7. 1930s
    8. 1940s

Earlier than 1930 and your hard press to find all the top heavyweights fight footage so i feel no one can really rank those decades.

As far as I've read Lastarza most probably deserved the first fight against Marciano, but then I've never professed an undefeated record as one of The Rock's strong suits. Also, plenty of fighters, even greater than Rocky, have looked '**** poor' in some fights.

What Marciano fights have you seen where you think he looks '**** poor'?

Your thing about prolonging is codswallop IMO. Especially when comparing him to Vitali (who couldn't put away a shot Shannon Briggs and needed knockdown after knockdown to put away Danny Williams, and rounds and rounds to put away Adamek) and Wlad (how many punches to get rid of shot Rahman? And he only threw a left hand in the last round against Chambers; surely earlier would've made it a much better win?) is not fair IMO.

Also, he didn't just think 'I'll lay into Walcott early second time round, it was easy once I'd decided to time him with the right hand and beat him to the punch as he was in full flow' did he?
