What’s the main reason so many great old fights have not been converted to color? I understand it may be pricey but have any of you boxing historians looked into other routes? College kids? Business ventures? Or is it just to big an ordeal? I don’t know that is why I ask. Would love to see some of these old Joe Luis fights and Marciano fights in color.

Rez teased at a colorized Joe Louis video but never delivered. It's probably extremely difficult without a team, id imagine, for good quality, you'd need to color each and every frame by hand. Assuming the video is 4 minutes long and 60fps, that's 14400 images you'd need to color in

He said before it was taking way longer than he expected. It really does bring things to life though.

I think there's just too little interest in the films in the first place.

I hope he didn't embark on the endeavor alone...

I wonder if anyone knows a professor somewhere that works with computers. Maybe get a team of kids to work on some fights. Would be free and an interesting endevear. Has to be some boxing fan computer guys out there!!! Make it happen!

I think it would confuse a lot of people. They would end up mistaking the reimagined footage as accurate depictions of the fights, when in reality they would largely reflect the editor’s imagination.

Color isn't necessary, in fact, it can be a distraction.

Digitatized black and white looks really good but I was looking forward to Reznick’s joe Louis in color. What happened with that?
