Both were great fighters in their prime. People who think otherwise, know very little about boxing in my opinion. Hopkins is a great technician in the close up clinches, one of the best ever. He fights dirty, but fair dirty, in the inside roughing you up. Joe will struggle if he tries to fight Hopkins up close in the trenches. Joe has fantastic speed and is a fantastic boxer from middle to long range. I think a lot of people in the US don't realise quite how technically gifted he is from that range. My take on it is. If the fight is fought cageily at middle to long range I think Calzaghe wins a comfortable but not landslide win 116-112. If Calzaghe tries to put on a show and gets tangled into a tight fight fout inside, then Hopkins winning it 116-112. Both are incredibly gifted fighters, anyone who suggests otherwise knows frankly nothing about boxing. Personally, I think Hopkins pulls a narrow one: Joe fighting in US for 1st time, tries to put on a show gets dragged into an ugly fight 116-112 to B-Hop. But I could very well be proved wrong come saturday and whatever happens both will remain true warriors. I certainly won't be resorting to petty name calling.
Great video Andy...thanks for this bro!!! The song is now in my head for life (gawd I hate that song), but it was worth it...tremendous video.
I still find it funny why Hopkins or Roy Jones Jr kept away from Calzaghe for so long. 6 years at least they kept turning down Calzaghe. I wonder why????????
