Read this on a Sports Science Paper a bit back. Warm down stretch or cool down or nothing, Answer. None of them makes any difference, that came as a shock to me .

We do dynamic stretching, and warmdown anyway. But Scientific Papers I listen to, they usually are spot on, but not always. Science has there head up there ass! For the longest time they claimed Roids had no effect. Try not warming down . Horse and trotting trainers have been using warm ,warm down for 100 years. I could find you a recent paper that states that lactic acid is converted back to energy by warming down. I prefer to watch what swimmers have done for far longer than most human athletes.
