I found Paulie to be pretty annoying before the fight, but its good to see him giving Ricky his props and still keeping a smile on his face after the fight. Good on him. :good

Cool gesture indeed :good but his boxing still sucks chunks. I don't like boxers with big mouths pre-fight who talk a lot of **** about their opponents, but can't back it up inside the ring, and are reduced to looking like meek lambs in the post presser. Typical.

I've just finished watching the fight for the second time.

The thing is: Hatton hurt Malignaggi at least 6 or 7 times during the fight. There should be little complain of the stoppage, even if Malignaggi wasn't badly hurt at the moment. Vs. Cotto, he punched back, stayed aggressive and let his hands go. Vs. Hatton, he just ate huge punches one after another when he waited for counter-punching opportunities. In the 11th, you could see more punches landing for Ricky, and body-head combinations clearly hurting Paulie. I think the knockout was close. As a former fighter, Buddy probably felt it coming. It looked like the right time to step in. One less clean KO for the fans, one more fighter to go out without brain damage. Courage and warrior heart can't prevent you getting brain damage. It was the right call for the sake of Paulie's future fights.

He can say that HE never wanted to quit, he never quits, and the fans got his point.

    hat off to paulie.

you can tell he was heartbroken just by listenning to his voice.

must be a horrible feeling losing a big boxing match, dinted pride, feeling you've let people down, bunch of idiots on boxing forums calling you a ****** when they've never had the balls to step in the ring before.

i remember watching hatton after he lost to PBF and he was heartbroken as well, felt like he'd let everybody down.

i didn't like paulie before the fight but i thought that gesture was pretty ****in good.
