ESPN's Dan Rafael has named Kickett conqueror Adrian Broner in his Top 25 Prospects for 2010 list. Broner has fought 3 times since the Kickett fight for early stoppages. Despite Kickett's 6rd ko he put up a good fight against the 19 yr old. [ check it out on you tube if you haven't seen it ] I'm waiting for Kickett to return the favour on Elomar. Hopefully we'll see a lot more of Willie in 2010.
Cool Willie needs to hook up with the Mundines. The way Mundine fights esp. his defence would work well with Willie.
I'd go the other way Teke. Willy is a natural athlete like Choc and relies on instinct rather than technique to avoid punches. He definately needs to keep his hands higher...not sure he'd learn that off Mundine. I think he needs to incorporate good technique in to his game if he wants to go further. That doesn't mean an overhaul...just a few changes to help protect his chin. Anyway, just my 2c mate...hope he hasn't gone too far off the rails.
We pretty much agreed with each other. At the begining Mundine was like Willy relying on Athleticism to avoid getting hit then as his progressed you could slowly see him building a good solid defence. What im basically trying to say is Willy needs to tighten up in his defence a little bit. I think whoever taught Mundine could be good for Willy. IMO Willy is still one of the best natural talents to come out of this country in a while.
i watched kicketts last fight finally today. willie did look good but doesnt seam to have much punch resistance, more so like he doesnt like to get hit or take any punishment. i think some time off fighting is ok for him as long as he stays fit and keeps training some boxing.
