My pick without second thought would be James Toney.

I cannot help but say "YOOOO" everytime i watch this mother****er counter someone successfully or completely dodge and smother an onslaught barrage of punches coming at him with that straight poker face he's got

Effective is a style all it's own. I didn't find Toney stylistically to my liking when he lazed about the ring for 2:50 and tried to win the last 10 seconds of the round. Or when he put up non-efforts against Tiberi and Thadzi.

Give me Monzon. That's a style I embrace. Methodic, crushing, inevitable. Effective.

    Jack Dempsey.

Pure violence. His goal was to end it as soon and violently as possible. Even when he did lose, he'd still be sure to throw and land vicious shots.

In modern times, Julio Cesar Chavez Sr. for much the same reasons as Dempsey.

My honorable mentions go to Foreman and Cotto.

Jorge Paez -- "El Maromero" ("the acrobat")

He was literally a circus clown prior to taking up boxing, clowned in the ring, fought wearing ridiculous stuff like tutus, but was legitimately good and made 8 successful defenses of the IBF featherweight title. Seriously, watch some highlights of him.

Also, people remember the Broner/Maidana humps? Paez did a whole lot of humps and crotch thrusts in the ring. He'd score a KD, then give an air hump before going to his corner.

I too have a special place in my heart for Paez.

Still don't understand why'd he'd choose to not enter the IBHOF.

    don’t get it either.

imagine getting knocked out by a dude wearing a tutu. I always appreciated him for being a legitimately good boxer who was also an entertainer.

Chris Eubank in the 1990 Benn fight (especially round one, remember three months to the day after the Barkley fight).

90s Foreman, its just so funny watching a bald fat grandpa knocking professionals (that were half his age) out cold with the most casual swings in the world.

Holyfield or Hagler. Loved how they moved in the ring and in the warm ups.

Serpentine; waiting but not lazy or necessarily even countering. A fighter who can read a lift of the eyebrow and pre-react. Economical. Also in danger of tumbling into boring, but that's not what I mean - rather, he wastes nothing, nothing for show, no slipping non-existent punches for this beast though he might use a defensive move as a feint. This fighter maximises his speed - he might not be the fastest, but his absolute judge of balance and distance makes him look quick, he finds the shortest distance for the punches, even the most dangerous punches (balls to brass he will have a good right hand to the body). A fighter by design, how a fighter would look if you were paying for the power you were converting into his efforts.

Prime RJJ was fantastic. His fights weren’t remotely competitive but they were brilliant viewing because he routinely did things that no one else before or since could. A freak talent.
