John L’s best punch was Cooney’s greatest weakness. Sullivan’s right hand was compared by some to be at the level of Joe Gans and Benny Leonard’s right crosses. His speed was compared to Dempsey’s as well so his speed in delivering the punch could likely come pretty early into the fight. On the other hand, Sullivan’s never dealt with a super heavyweight with the handspeed and power of Cooney. Who do you think would win?
