If Henry Cooper was in there against James J does he replicate fitzsimmons? Does he drop him with the same hook that put down Ali.. Or does Corbett s punches bring about the famous Cooper cut brows?

Interesting matchup Cooper had the dig to take Corbett out ,but as you mentioned those suspect eyes.

Corbett absolutely smokes him, and would appear to be twice as fast. Henry poses a danger, but not enough to quell the Gentleman.

The only reason to favor Cooper, would be if you had an absolute conviction that the evolution of the sport, overrode everything else in this match up.

And there in lies the problem with many of the match ups with Cooper. He could be dropped also but in this fight I fear for the cuts. But he can dig and Corbett could be caught. Tbh im struggling with a decision.

Prime Corbett was a speed demon. Cooper lost to the best fighters he fought. He is not starting to beat high level opposition against prime Corbett. Corbett on cuts in eight rounds in a one sided fight.

Cooper on night he put Clay on seat of his pants has the beating of Corbett.

Coopers left hook was a damned fine weapon, and Corbett would not be giving out boxing lessons to Cooper as he did to Jefferies.

Cooper being prone to cuts might have decided outcome, however stoppages for cuts by ref was not that common in Corbett era.

Corbett being a smart boxer would move to his left making the left hook dependent Cooper fall all over himself try to land. All along stabbing with his jab tearing apart Coopers brow. If fighting in Corbett era blood flow would be so severe Coopers corner stops it in fear of all the blood loss.

Oh i am sure Corbett would have a game plan as would Cooper.

With regard to your comment about Coopers corner stopping the fight due to fear of blood loss, i am guessing you are not a medic if you think the amount of claret spilled would make a corner fearful of the blood loss, long term damage to the skin yes, but volume of blood loss to the body no.

Cooper spurted blood when he fought Ali. Horrific sight and over a long fight bleeding such as that could pose a serious concern.

If Corbett were moving to his own left away from Cooper's left ,[a point I made on another post to you btw,]he would be negating his own left jab .
