I was watching these fights recently and I didnt really score but I thought Cooper did really well. With the knockdown and an aggressive 1st round he may have been ahead. He also did pretty well in the second bout. Not sure if he was winning rounds. If he didnt get that severe cut do you think he could have won either bout minus the cut
Cooper did EXTREMELY WELL . I had Cooper winning on, both fights . Unfrotunately , 2 bad cuts prevented Cooper , from winning . I have 1 High quality Career Set Of Cooper , And I must say, watching it in restored quality, it is clear Clay was losing.
Was the first bout scored by Referee Tommy Little only. Wasn't it fraction scoring that was used in the U.K.
Tommy Little,,,,,,,,,,,,, Round 1,,,,,,,Henry Cooper (10 to 9 3/4) Round 2,,,,,,,Cassius Clay (10 to 9 3/4) Round 3,,,,,,,Even (10 to 10) Round 4,,,,,,,Henry Cooper (10 to 9 1/2) Tommy Little did not notice any damage to Cassius Clay's glove during Round 4.
John, If you were going by a 10-point must system,,,,,,,,,,,Henry was ahead 39-37. The U.K. fraction system..........Henry was ahead 39 3/4 to 39 1/4.
They seem to be YOUR GUYS scores lol. We all should pretty much know that Ali was well ahead only loseing the round he was down. The judges seem to favor Ali fair or not.
Remember when Dundee first said......Clay had a small hole in his glove....I put my thumb in the hole and open it up some more.....and the Ref came over and I showed the damaged glove to him.
I've always thought Ali was badly stunned from the left hook/knockdown, and Dundee seems to have also. Could a reved up Cooper caught a still slightly buzzed Ali early in the 5th? We'll never know.
I think most ringsiders had Cooper ahead in Fight II, although this was just as much down to Ali being in cruise control than Henry's pressure.
Cooper was probably winning the first fight due to the knockdown. The rematch was a nothing fight until Ali decided to unload some right hands. Cooper was a brutal sight after each of them though. This content is protected
"Could a reved up Cooper caught a still slightly buzzed Ali early in the 5th? We'll never know." Why wont we know? Its well established that the myth that Ali got extra time to recover is just that: A MYTH. So Cooper came out for the 5th just when he was supposed to and ended up getting stopped in that round. We know exactly what would have happened because it did. If Cooper didnt come out "revved up" then its his fault and nobody elses.
Ok, am I out of the loop here totally? Was it just a 60 seconds, its been awhile since I've gone over Dundee's and the official account. Anyone with the info and where one can read it now?
The unedited broadcast of the fight shows that at most there was an extra three seconds to the between rounds time, which can be bought any time by a fighter simply coming out of his corner slowly.
